Not sure about the radiator now. Some of my trucks have 200,000 miles on them and never had a problem. Coolant is nice and clean. I'm thinking some kind of sensor not turning on the fans soon enough or something like that. Or bad hose to the radiator. Car has 80,000 miles. Don't think it's clogged being the fluid is nice and clean. Maybe it does have some kind of air. Some say it needs a special vac to get air out??? I think I need a pro to figure it out.

It certainly has the sound of the fans not coming on properly or fully to blow air over the radiators.

If the car is moving, the movement forces air over the radiators, and thus the temp stays in the proper range. When stopped, the electric fans are there to do that work by forcing the air in. If its only when stationary, the symptom highly points to an issue with the fans.. either they don't come on at the proper temp, don't spin at the proper speed, or their produced air is not making it over the radiators.

I think minok could be right. I did check the fans once and they both where on but maybe they come on intermittent like a sensor going bad. I think this could very well be a possibility. Car temp goes up only when not moving. And it goes up pretty rapid into the 200 and up range. I'll see what porche says. I think it's beyond the do it yourself. I was hoping it would be simple. Ac also blows warm air at idle. Not Sure if it's connected or 2 different problems. Probably needs to be recharged.

Issues like this are stressful. Everything so far has been conjecture and you'll get a report soon enough from the dealership. I've not seen radiator fans working intermittently. Likewise, I don't know how your air conditioner not working properly has anything to do with the overheating. Good luck with the diagnosis.

Overheating issue fixed

Had the fan module replaced and fixed the issue with the overheating in traffic and also fixed the issue with the ac blowing warm air when stopped. I thought the fans were working because I felt a little air in front of the tires. But now that its fixed I here and feel plenty of air now. I am one happy camper or driver.

Good to hear. Any info on why the fan module failed?

Given Porsche's crazy complex electronics and handshaking solution, I'm surprised the computer doesn't communicate with the fan controller and verify its ok or throw an error code.
