Car not starting sometimes?

I've had my 07' Carrera since this past April and have noticed on about 4 separate random occasions so far that when I put the key in the ignition and fire it up it will not start. On each instance I have turned it several times and eventually taken the key out then turned it again and it finally starts up. Last night it happened and I took the key out, locked the doors with the remote then stuck the key back in to start and it fired right up. Not sure if that had anything to do with it but thats just what I remember doing. None of the instances the car started up "slow" like a regular car would when the battery is dying.

Anybody ever have this issue? Sound like a starter issue? Battery? Possibly something up with the key itself?

The car is still under factory warranty so I was gonna schedule an appointment for later this week...the only reason I haven't so far is because I haven't been able to duplicate the issue and it's been spread out over 4 months...maybe happening one time each month so far.

Probably the Clutch Switch (if this is a manual). Common issue with 997s and replaced in no time.

Sorry, but probably not. the switch in question measures that the clutch pedal is depressed. It just sounded all too familiar with the issues that some of us have run into.

I had some really strange electrical things happening with my 08 CS cab and when I got a new battery they disappeared.

It could easily be the starter switch (not unusual to go out). Your dealer will know after testing.

More info needed so you don't have to keep weeding thru random, though intending to be helpful, useless guesses. Not the least of which will cost you big time should you start just throwing $ at lots of different parts because there are many paths... (of course your warranty will cover diagnosis and repair now but others reading this thread later w/o warranty may not be so lucky)

"when I put the key in the ignition and fire it up it will not start"

Please clarify this statement b/c w/o more info it truly could be any number of things. So, some essential pieces of info you haven't mentioned yet (now that we know it's a TIP which precludes clutch switch):

When you turned the key does it even crank at all?

How old is the battery?

Any warning messages on the display?

Any recent work done on vehicle and if so, what?

Because this is intermittent, and you have warranty, do not try to start it again upon next occurrence but instead immediately call Porsche roadside assistance. Why? Should you successfully get it started, any temporary fault codes from non-start will be erased. As such, a dealer trying to diagnose then won't have a good start point to find problem. And without one, they may just attribute it to a short between seat and steering wheel

Please let us know the outcome to help others down the road.

Good luck
