Front Brake Shim Problem

Front Brake Shim Problem
Hi,
I was helping my friend do the brakes on his 2006 Cayman S and we could not get one of the pucks from the shim out of the piston. I removed the caliper, and tried to use a right angle screwdriver to remove the screw, and it was turning the entire piston. The other side cane out but was quite rusted, so I am sure they were never changed.
You cant even get a good grip on the screw to get a hold of it. Any ideas short of getting a new piston and replacing it. His brakes were so shot we had to change the pads, so we left that old one in but changed the rest.
I have not changed my 2006 Carrera S brakes yet, but I will be soon, so I would like to know what to do if it happens to me.

i've never heard of that before. good thing i change mine regularly for track days. maybe spray some kind of loosener in there over a period of a few days while letting the car sit? or you might just have to (take it somewhere to) weld something to it in order to get a grip/yank it out. good luck.
