Best,

SOunds good Matt, I will PM him see what he can do for me. I definitely think that Porsches need thicker steering wheels straight from assembly line. I would line mine to be as thick as M3 SW.

This project is a simple 997.1 sport type steering wheel re-wrap with
- extra thick padding
- perforated leather on sides
- customer's choice of color stitching

We can also make this for standard type 997.1 steering wheel

DCT built me a new wheel. I had a standard carrera wheel and within a week of ordering it I received my new wheel. I ordered it on Sunday on the way to sema, got pictures maybe Tuesday or Wednesday asking if it was what I was looking for. Was at my house by Friday so Ii could install it that weekend.
Extra padding, thumb notches, red stitching and red center stripe. It's stunning, feels fantastic in my hands and there is no upgrade that will make the car feel better. Your hands are on it every time you get in it and it feels and looks as good as the day I got it
+997 for DCT and their work.

Glad you guys had a good experience with DCT - wish I could say the same. It sounds like the product I received was was an anomaly based on everyones else's good experience, however it does not change the fact of the **** poor customer service I received. I would never recommend this company to anyone - just pray you are happy with your order, any issues - Good Luck!

Installation time / skill

Looks great Matt. How long did it take you to remove your steering wheel and then reinstall the replacement? What skills are needed for the job?

Takes literally 12 minutes and 10 of it is waiting to make sure the battery is dead.
Disconnect the battery using a 10mm socket,
Wait ten minutes
Using a very small hex key(it's what I used) find the small hole under the airbag on the underside of the steering wheel.
Push up when you feel the little button inside the hole.
Pull up on the airbag from the bottom
disconnect the electrical connection to the actual airbag
Using the appropriate T-55 starbit and ratchet with extender turn the steering wheel center bolt counter clockwise like any other bolt until it comes off.
Slide the steering wheel off
Slide the new one on(it only fits one way)
Screw the bolt back in
Plug the airbag connector back in
push the airbag back in the way it came out.

I have the triangle airbag so the bottom of mine came up by pushing on the little button in the hole. Once that was done I gently rotated the airbag upwards and it just came off.

Found this video on you tube(more like pics on video but it gives you what you need. This is super easy to do and way easier than say changing the oil

Good luck and share a pic once installed.

Ive had their flat bottom carbon fiber wheel on my e class for around 5 years now and it still looks good as new. I paid 650 on ebay for it just wish the pricing was somewhat closer on their porsche wheels

I'm extremely happy with my DCT wheel. Basically the same design as the OP's (Matt's) wheel, but with carbon fiber on the top. The carbon adds a chunk of change to the price, but it was worth it for me.

Install would have been simple, but I had a heck of time getting the air bag to release. Once I got past that hurdle, the hardest part was making sure one puts the new wheel on straight. I used tape as a template and marsh pens to mark the spline with the old wheel. Then transferred my tape template to the new wheel and lined it up with the spline marking. Dead center on the first try!

Just put our actions and response here for forum members as reference
- We posted a holiday sale for Sand Beige leather 997 steering wheel we had in stock, you asked for a black leather color one which we had to make for you. We shipped the wheel in 3 weeks.
- After received the wheel, you wrote an email saying you loved the steering wheel and sent back the core
- while we are waiting for the core back, you called us saying the leather glue smell bad, we agree to ship back the core back to you with FedEx express
- You received the core and ship back the wheel then we issued FULL REFUND right away via Paypal

This was what we did as customer service. We had friendly discussion and good conversation during the phone calls, don't know why now you complained about our customer service.

Ivan I really did not want to go down this road with with you but since you are literally asking me to - Here you go, the rest of the story! Like I have said to others, there are many happy customers so you are doing something right 99% of the time, but when things don't go right, your customer service is a ZERO! Read below and think about it.

When the steering wheel showed up I opened the box and the smell of glue was horrendous. Thinking this was normal I did write a note to Ivan saying how much I liked it, and I did. Had it installed hoping it was normal and go away, 2 weeks in the garage with the top down and the smell was still horrible. Called Ivan, he basically told me it was impossible, never happened before, I was being too critical. I told him I would send him back the wheel and if, in his opinion, it smelled like glue (which it did) I would take an exchange but he would have to pay for the labor costs (install/remove/install), he refused - says something! However he did say I could send it back for a refund, not exchange, just refund. So I did and he did reimburse me promptly. All I asked of him at that point was to check out the wheel and tell me one of two things 1. - Smell was normal or 2. - This one is bad. As you can surmise he did nothing. Additionally there were about 8 loose threads, I trimmed them and glued them down with a toothpick. It all sums up to this - poor quality control, and really ****ty customer service - Ivan does not stand behind his product.

All you had to do is acknowledge the product was bad and make it right. And making it right would include the reimbursing the costs of the labor to install/remove/install - yet you were unwilling to do that! You would not even entertain swapping the wheel. It was keep it or refund, period. So yes sir, your customer service is rock bottom! Fortunately for your customers most do not have any issues - lucky for them! Enough said.

I would only throw in here that I had someone else rewrap a wheel and it also smelled really bad when I got it. Horrible glue smell. However, I didn't install it, the guy sent a mailing label, I sent it back, he refinished part of it and sent it back with very little smell. Apparently the glue in the process is nasty. I wonder if others have had glue smell issues.
