Please post up what you decide to get. Unfortunately, my car has a multi-function steering wheel, and I'm not certain it would be remain functional with an aftermarket unit if I replaced the stock POS.

Lacrosse I am on the south shore of Nassau. Can you recommend a dealer to get my car serviced. The nearest to me is in Freeport but I have no info about them either way.

If you search the forum you will see a number of threads on head unit upgrades (Denison seems to be the most popular).

And for certain post up some pictures and provide more details on your car.

Guzzi,

I have used Porsche of Huntington. I know that is out of the way for you. And they can be on the high side cost wise, but I also trust what they are telling me and they do quality work. Some people have gone to Legend in Amityville. I don't know anything about South Shore Porsche (Freeport).

I have also had some upgrade work done at TKX Performance in Huntington Station. Very good Indy shop IMHO. Another member (from NJ) TommyV has had work done by Martino Auto Concepts in Glen Cove. I am currently working with them to get my 3 piece Vorsteiner wheels fixed. They have a good reputation as well.

One more thing, I'm sorry don't mean to be a pita but, is there a secret to putting on the rear license plate. On my car there is a black plastic plate and two very small screws to hold the plate on. There is no way that is going to hold a NYS plate on. Am I doing something wrong. The front I guess I could use Velcro but do I have to use that on the rear also. please advise.
Thanks

That Nav system you have was designed sometime around 2004 --- yes, it is a very dated system. The 997.2 (2009 - 2012) Nav system (btw, this is called the PCM 3.0) is a little better, but not much in my opinion.

Congrats on the new ride!

Could be just me. My wife has 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that is incredibly easier and allot better. Can 4 years of technology make that much of a difference?

Plate

That's it (unfortunately). You can get a license plate frame from Suncoast Porsche. I think these come with all 4 screws. I have no idea why Porsche only includes 2 screws on their plates. I've had 2 997s and both have only had 2 screws. Guess Porshce needs to cut costs

Ok got new radio/Nav installed with the following.
Pioneer avic-z140BH am/fm/DVD/CD/Nav with USB to Ipod Video
Alpine MRX-V70 5 channel digital amp
Connects 2 Dash Kit
Alpine rear view camera
Sirius Interface for Pioneer
Rewired the entire system

System sounds and functions flawlessly. Much much easier. Bluetooth connects and works with voice control without a hitch. Great system. I'll post pics when I can.

Working through small annoyences. Passenger seat rocks a bit. Found a small roundish nut under seat and what looks like a place to screw it on but it will not go. Inside right rail there is a piece of metal with a hole and what looks like a screw that is where the seat is rocking from. Any thoughts.

Congrat's on your New to you P Greg! I really like the C4 and the C4S. I'm looking forward to seeing your pics. Did you install the stereo yourself or professionally?

Thanks See u. Had the unit done by a Pro. After watching for a few minutes I'm glad I did. Taking it all out didn't seem all that bad Putting in all the new stuff looked like a pita. Also if anything goes wrong back it goes. But so far so good. Pics coming.

Remove the Porsche plate holder and drill two more small holes in it for your NYS plate. Make sure the screws you use to attached the plate with the two new holes at the bottom do not penetrate the plate holder or you will scratch the bumper underneath. Are NYS plates larger than or heavier than the plates of other states. Have used two screws for my Indy plate on two Porsches over a period of 12 years and haven't lost a plate yet.
As for the extra nut, for POWER SEATS there are only two nuts visible on the seat rails. They attach to long screw-like tracks that the seats move on. The nut has a blue mark it and should fits on front end of the rail. Of course, all this info is useless if you have manual seats. Good news is while I was looking at my seats to figure out where the nut might go I found 45 cents under the seat.

Thanks for the plate mounting info Dadio I will most defenetly give that a go. I found where the nut goes, it fits in a hole in a piece of metal that prevents the seat from rocking. I cannot seem to get it tight, the screw keeps turning w/ the nut and you cannot get it from the other side because of plastic trim. May have to go see my local stealer as my wife does not enjoy rocking up and down. In the car.
