My lobster fork end table

I recently changed out my lobster forks for some new wheels. Didn't think I'd get much selling them, plus I didn't really like the end tables I had in my family room. So a $25 glass table top from Pier One, $20 of hardware from Home Depot, lots of cleaning, and voila...

Great stuff. This could be one of the most expensive end table, but definitely a very beautiful one. I'd like to find an old flat six air cooled to place under a transparent coffee table.

I used the Packers stein as a prop since the glass doesn't photograph very well. Plus, that's what will often be on it. I came up with the idea Monday night to try to get my mind off that terrible game.
I used five 12" carriage bolts to give it a bit of rigidity (since I have a very active 3 year old son and Belgian-German Shepherd dog. Put some felt dots on the bottom so I don't scratch the floor and a few vinyl bumper dots on the top so the glass doesn't slide around. Really simple. The 11" over 8" combination is the perfect end table height.
I thought I'd have to do a bit of convincing my wife to just put it on the patio, but to my surprise, the finished product looked so good, she wanted it in the family room and gave me the go ahead to make the second one.

Never been a fan of lobster forks.....on the car. But using them for an end table looks great!!!

I've had this 917 12cyl engine case for twelve years and always thought about making a table out of it.
Glad I didn't mess with it because I just sold it. It's going back to Germany to be rebuilt and installed in a 917.
