Didn't get chance to drive more than 20miles to notice any gas mileage difference but I am sure it will help.
I noticed the exact same things when I changed the spark plugs at 40K miles, too. Car was very nice and smooth (I had two coils replaced because of cracks, too).

Question - is your Pcar a 997.2 ( with direct injection ) ... if so - wonder what your intake valves look like ( direct injection has some byproducts )

Greg
Greg,
My car is 997.1 and to be honest I never kept track of oil consumption in my car. I do have EvoM intake and not sure how much difference it contributes to spark plug being that dirty.

my q is not to find if he is using cheaper plugs or not. looking to see what he is used, if anything other OEM, want to know why, any benefits (other than cost btw).

^^ I used Bosch plugs and got them from Advanced Auto Parts for around $10ea. They had to order it which took 2days. I wanted wanted to stay with OEM and Bosch makes pretty good plugs as I've used them on my BMWs etc.

There was a recent thread ( https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...hat-brand.html ) with similar points .... tracked down my Bosch sales rep -- and 16 e-mails and finally a phone call .... I am more confused than ever at Porsche's plug selection ???

The Yttrium is in all plugs as an extra -- so when all is said and done - these plugs are the 'old style' ... and Platinum and Iridium are the new style ( usually with much smaller centre electrodes ) and typically run well over 100,000 miles ...

Bosch is dropping the 4 electrodes ... most saw it as an aftermarket gimmick ( remember SplitFire plugs .... RIP ? ) but probably keep it on this OEM< spec'd plug ...

So - what happens if you upgrade plugs ? Even better - run the older style plugs in any new vehicle ... that comes OEM with Platinum or Iridium ? Porsche engineers .... do you read this MB ?

Greg
