DME report - opinions please?

I'm looking to buy a low mileage (~25k km) 2005 997 C2 and just had them do a DME report for me. There are some over revs in higher ranges but I'm not sure if this is anything to be concerned about. What does this mean?

Number of ignitions range 1 - 257/815h
Number of ignitions range 2 - 26/815h
Number of ignitions range 3 - 16/815h
Number of ignitions range 4 - 15/815h
Number of ignitions range 5 - 15/815h
Number of ignitions range 6 - 2/815h

Operating hours - 842

btw - the car does has a FVD DME flash. I know that boosts the rev limit, but would that affect these readings?

thanks in advance for the help!

As far as I know
range 1 is 7300 - 7500
range 2 is 7500 - 7700

When I had my 06 C2S read, it only has readings in range 1 and range 2 so I am not sure what RPM are for range 3 - 6

The amount of over revs above range 3 are not significant as the number of ignitions at 4000 rpms is 12000 per minute. Dividing that number by the highest number of ignitions in the report you reference would represent an event lasting 16/12000 or .00133 percent of a minute. Not signifcant when you consider the fact that your engine would have been running revs between 7900 and 11000 rpms with more than double the ignitions to record a real over rev event between levels 4 and 6.

Overall recorded ignitions is low. Range 1-4 are no worries. Usually range 5 & 6 are worth looking at. Based upon the total low, and range 2-6 almost the same, you probably had a single but brief event at 815h.

As stated above, the total time in over rev is extremely small

Low mileage, no real over revs, likely a garage queen car. Those DME numbers do not scare me.

But I drive like I stole it

Looks like the owner of that car decided to get on the gas right before he decided to sell the car! If this is at a P-car dealer, make sure you get them to confirm that the warranty / CPO will NOT be nullified by having range 5 or 6 ignitions. Search this forum for DME and you'll find lots of discussion.

I wouldn't be concerned. Looks like a single missed down shift. Maybe had a track day. These cars are beasts and are built for the track.
