Adding Bluetooth to 2006 Carerra

I just bought my first Porsche and bluetooth would be a nice addition to connect my iPhone. I'd appreciate any advice on what my options are and sources. Thanks.

Thanks...very nice, but I only use the phone from time to time, so I'm looking for a less expensive option.

You could go with a Tooki unit. I have one installed in mine, as it integrates with the PCM. Works pretty well.

I have the Dension. It works quite well. I'm not sure if its the PCM or the Dension, but the logic of making a call is somewhat cumbersome. To call someone I can dial from my phone and that works great, but to use the screen for a number I call all the time, I have to scroll to "important numbers", then hit "select" and scroll to the number and select it and then scroll to the bottom of the options list to select dial. Seems backward to me and the only safe way to dial is at a stop light, because of the all scrolling. There might be a way to set up quick dial on it, but I haven't figured it out. But it is so much better than trying to shift and hold a cell phone.

I also get noise from my installed radar detector on the phone. Cartoys says there is no fix other than to turn the radar detector off while I'm on the phone. I have the Escort SR7. I don't know, but I believe that is more a problem with the radar detector than the Dension.

DoninDEN^ That's interesting that Cartoys told you there was nothing that they could do but for you to turn your detector off?I have the Escort Passport 9500ix and it doesn't affect the phone one bit?Are you using the newest Dension 500S?

I tried the Motorola in my 2006 and wasn't impressed. I'm currently using the Parrot minikit slim which works better for me. Voice commands work well which allows me to use it truly hands-free. Cabin noise can be a problem for those on the other end, but it seemed to be worse for me with the Motorola unit. Just something else to consider. Good luck.

Thanks. I'll take a look at that. I just don't feel inclined to spend $400 to $600 for blue tooth when I seldom have the need.

There's at least 1 guy asking $300 for both units.

I completely agree, which is why I went with the Parrot product. Cost was under $100, and I can move it from car to car, or take it with me on vacation.
