weep hole residue - normal?

Noted this pink residue on below the WP - no dripping on garage on floor noted about 2 months ago. dealer said normal to have some residue from weep hole but keep an eye on it....any experience? is this a harbinger of WP failure necessarily? thanks

Not familiar with the weep hole on a water pump. However, I can recognize evidence of a leak when I see one. Have the problem properly diagnosed by a competent service tech. Keeping an eye on it while you're driving to work in heavy traffic won't be that easy.

yeah your probably right - you know, you try to be a good customer, have some faith in the dealership, build a relationship....I am CPO till Nov 2013. I wonder if they make more money when the customer pays out of pocket than under warranty...any one know?

Dadio, are you saying the pink residue is coolant leak, albeit a slow one?
thanks

certainly a water pump leak (or cooling system near the pump). This system for cooling is sealed. there should be no weeping. The dealer should get paid for warranty the same as if you paid out of pocket. I'd push to get it fixed.

Yup, and an active leak to boot because pink coolant, when fully dry, turns to a white powder. It's pinkish because it's still wet.
