997.1 Nav Update

I just bought a 2006 C2S. How can I update the Nav? I found the place in for the disc but can I go to a dealer for the disc?

Thanks

Dealer should stock the Nav disc.
2010 is the latest I believe.
Your disc should be an '04 version if its
the original

I surmise the dealer cost will be high, any 2nd party vendors to get it from? Any pirated versions available?

It says DVD Pkg.2004-1
Dated 04.2004 on the DVD case.
Eject the disc & date should be on the left. Could be an '06 depending on delivery date of the car

Dealer price is about $300 but about half that is license fees to NavTec.
There are burns out there but
I've never tried one yet.

Unless you use your NAV on a regular basis or need to find new roads, streets, POI's, etc the 2004 version might just serve your purpose. I upgraded mine a few years back to the 2008 version and IMHO it was a waste of money.

I disagree, an updated Nav DVD is worth it. The Points of Interest will change significantly and so does the normal nav data.

I didn't say the newer NAV DVD doesn't contain more current data I said unless you use NAV on a regular basis it might not be the best investment.

I find I use my iPhone (it updates mapping data probably every day) a great deal of the time if I need to find a destination in my car(s).
