So I just bought a Cayenne Turbo.......... what news on the 998?
Just walked into the dealership today and put the money down for a Cristal Silver Metallic with black interior, nothing fancy on the spec though its missing the crests and it does have 18" wheels on it (Yes I do plan on taking it off road )
Man on man does this thing fly! I never knew a truck could move so fast especially in the corners, when the salesguy took me for a test drive I was sure we where going to end up as a stain on the wall but he just nailed it through the corners and the CT was perfect!
The waiting list on the Cayenne is now 6 months long and I couldn't be bothered waiting that long! Pickup date is the 14th of next month.
So anyway I was looking around at what else they had because I am currently also debating a 996TT or a new 997 Carrera S. I managed to the take the C2S for a nice 4 hour spin along the backroads and highways of Dubai and was it addicting! Initially I was a little disappointed with the acceleration but a quick glance at the speed would always reassure me that I was doing 180km/h when it felt like I was doing 100! I think the biggest thing is that the engine definetly lacked torque compared to the Cayenne Turbo. PSM worked great especially when barelling out of corners at full speed. It was my first time driving a car with an engine mounted at the back so the brakeing felt really really wierd. I was really hitting the brakes hard but felt no weight being pushed to the front, I couldn't really tell how fast we where slowing down except through the speedo but I'm sure everyone experienced that initially?
Anyway I haven't kept up with 998 news, I remember some time ago there where a lot of rumors that the 997 was a very stopgap car and hence we'd see the 998 about 2 years from now any truth to those rumors? I know Porsche has traditionally kept a 7 year gap between models, but there where some strong rumors flying around some time ago.
I was very very impressed with the C2S even though it didn't have any of the pull that the CT did, it feels very wierd that I might be buying a sports car that doesn't feel as fast as my truck?
I haven't managed to take the 911 Turbo out for a spin yet, though I am planning on taking it out sometime this week.
Basically I'm stuck with an interesting dilema, they local dealership has a couple of very good examples of used 996TTs, though the prospect of owning a new 997S is very enticing to me, though I may just hold off temptation and get the 997TT with the CT letting me have my thrills for the time being. That being said I would have no plans of putting any money into a 997TT if the 998 was just around the corner.
I don't like to flip cars so whatever I end up getting will be with me for at least 3 years. Anyone actually know the full story behing the Porsche model lineup? Right now I'm really confused as to what to do next

good luck with the 998. u'll be waiting for a long long time before it come out. that's why i don't like rumor. before the 997 out some people are saying it'll be a short run before the 998 out & there won't be a 997TT. Crap! look what's happening now. 997 is a totally new model & GT3, TT will be out probably this time next year. again, if u want to wait for the 998, be prepare.

I experimented a bit with PSM off and while it was very predictable I'm still not used to a car with that much power, grip levels on tiled driveways ie pulling out of a mall was very dicey. One of my daily driver cars is a 95 Maxima modded to 240ish bhp (lets everyone I do contracts with think I'm poor ) and I tend to mash the peddle to get it going.
The GT3 is an excellent car but I'll be the first to admit I'm not ready for it yet! Besides the depreciation hit the GT3 takes over time is not even funny, its nearly as bad as the GT2s.

The wait for a Cayenne is 6 months? Man, I would love to sell my white 2005 Cayenne TT...
Do you know a good site to post it? It’s like new, loaded, two tone tan interior with 4,500 miles on it...great vehicle, looking for something beefier to pull a trailer with my 997 track car on it…need to get 85k for it.

I just got back from the porsche dealer and they said the GT3 comes out next year in August, while the Turbo doesn't even have a certain release date

Where are you located? If your in Dubai just try going back to Nabooda or a 2nd hand car dealer.
