I think I just had the IMS failure

Update:
Just got a call this morning from my dealer. My warranty company will be covering all costs associated with replacing the motor. So good news!
For those of you looking for an aftermarket warranty company, I recommend CNA National. Its sold at most porsche retailers. Never once through this process did I interact with the warranty company, my dealer handled everything.
For those curious about availability of porsche engines, the dealer expects to have it within the next couple of days with install taking just under a week.

2005 C2S with 10k miles. Failed motor had the smaller ims.
My car was a prime candidate (if there was ever one). Extremely low miles with the smaller ims. In the end, thought, I will have a car that still has a new car smell, a new motor, for almost half the price it was new.

Quick update: I should be getting my car back this coming week. For anyone that is curious, replaced OEM Porsche motors come with a warranty of 2 years/unlimited miles. This obviously applies to the new engine and no other components.
Also, my dealer set me up with a pretty nice "rental" while my 997 was under the knife. They delivered to me at my home a 2012 Panamera 4 fully optioned out. I must say, these past few weeks have spoiled me with this car. Granted, its no 911 and I desperately miss my car, but the Panamera has shown me why its worth the $100k price tag. Before driving and living with the car, I had wrote it off based on looks alone. If you are in the market for a four door luxury cruiser, do yourself a favor and take a look at the Panamera while considering the best from Audi, Mercedes, and BMW, its that good!

Any insight is greatly appreciated.
I recently just purchased a 2005 997 C2S with under 10k miles. I have had the car for about a month or so. Today, while going for a drive, the car randomly shut off while I was sitting at a light. I restarted the car (took a few cranks to get it going again) and the noise from the engine sounded like metal grinding against metal. I very slowly limped into a parking lot not 10 feet away as I was still in the middle of a very crowded road. Once in the parking lot, I shut off the car and looked under the car. As I was looking, oil began pouring from one specific place under the engine. After a while, the leak stopped due to, I assume, there being no more oil left in the motor.
I got the car towed to my Porsche dealer, and I am waiting for their prognosis. However, I think this may be the dreaded IMS issue. Can anyone confirm or speculate?
Thankfully I purchased a comprehensive aftermarket warranty through the dealer about 4 weeks prior. Under the plan, any damage (like engine replacement) will be covered.

Dealer has diagnosed IMS failure and adjuster from warranty company is scheduled to do the visual inspection tomorrow! Good luck.

gofast997...sorry to hear about your IMS failure. Since I own a 2005 with the early bearing and 40K + miles, especially sorry to hear about it.
OK...at this point I am ready to pull the trigger on the LN Engineering upgrade on my car, anyone have a recommendation for a shop that has experience with this install in California? (Ventura County preferred, LA works)
