Sitting for 18-2o days...should i do anything?
Hi
I am going away over Xmas and my 997 will be sitting in the garage without being driven for 18-20 days? Should i do anything, get a trickle charger, disconnect the battery?
I don't drive the car more than once/twice a week at the weekends and have not had a problem before, its probably been left 2 weeks before. Just wondering what you folks think?
Thx

That's funny.
Too short of a timeframe, so I would nothing if I were you. I often leave 2-3 weeks and my car has had no issues. If you want 100% mental confort, buy a good trickle charger. Add Sta-Bil to your gas.
On 2nd thought, you appear to have a garage-queen. You might as well buy the trickle charger now.

Hmmmm..... I thought it was for year-round use and not just for winter. I am always worried about the varnishing-effect. Here is what I go by:
STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer is America’s top selling fuel stabilizer. Stored fuel can go bad in as little as 30-60 days causing gum, varnish and corrosion to build up in the fuel lines and engine. STA-BIL® brand is recommended to be used AT EVERY FILL UP in all vehicles and equipment to protect against gum and varnish formation. STA-BIL® brand also contains corrosion inhibitors that can protect against corrosion.

I don't want to start a debate/ argument or anything but......
Why don't people drive these more, if you don't drive it what's the point?
You just keep in Great shape until I buy it used from you!

Too many reasons:
1. I myself work 2x/wk from home.
2. Too many vehicles (I used to have 6 vehicles and 2 motorcycles) -- no lie.
3. Some have their Porsches as retirement trophy.
4. Change of parking conditions (e.g., if I ever end up being transferred to downtown Los Angeles, I would drive my Porsche less and drive a beat-up truck.
5. It is not just Porsches that get driven less. It could be any car.
I could go on. I say, "vehicles not driven frequently" should not even be a subject matter.
