Benefits to Porsche Owners Club?

Are there any benefits to joining the Porsche Owner's Club of NA? I saw that it has mailings, and they notify you of events, but is there anything else?

Do you mean the PCA? I get discounts at the dealer and you also get discounts at club events like de & ax.

There are two similarly named clubs:

Porsche Club of America (PCA, http://www.pca.org) is a national organization. Benefits: http://www.pca.org/Membership/MemberBenefits.aspx
It offers a wide variety of social (breakfast clubs, tech talks, Parade, Escape) and driving (Club Racing, Drivers Education, Autocross, Rallies) events.

Porsche Owners Club (POC, http://www.porscheclub.com) is a mostly California based organization. They are focused almost entirely on track driving (Performance Driving Series, Time Trials, Cup Racing).

Oh ok. Yea I think it's PCA. I just got a 997 C4S and the previous owner had the PCA sticker on there. I googled Porsche Owners Club, and it looks like there are many variants! Nice to know!

The best part is THE PEOPLE...you meet a lot of great people with the same passion. I learn so much from the PCA community and it makes me appreciate my car even more.

Absolutely. I have been a member since 1994 and been associated with 4 different regions and I could not agree more.

It is a benefit to share experiences with like-minded people and the discounts are great as well. It is also fun to get the newsletters (national and local) for reference material. I highly recommend joining PCA.

If you ask what is the best thing I can do to improve the performance of my car, you will have the vast majority of people say do a DE. A DE is a Driver's Ed day through the PCA at a race track with a person who has been tracking and racing their Porsche for a decade +/- sitting next to you telling you how to drive your car on the track. It is as exhilarating as it is a great way to learn about what you car is really designed to do and do extremely well. To hire a private firm to teach you to drive your car on a track a day would be $1,000 to $2,000, to do it with the PCA, about $200.

Then there are the auto crosses in which you will drive timed soft cone tracks and compete against yourself. They are the most addicting thing in the world! If I could do that every morning, I would!!

Then you have the information locally about what's going on and recommendations on shops and services that other Porsche car owners will share if you ask.

The people are great and they share a love of cars and driving and you will see Porsches of all types and vintages!

Definitely do and don't think twice about it!

An equivalent question and answer might be:

Q: Why should I buy a Porsche?
A: To join the PCA!

Follow your car's sticker, it is your destiny...

If you have the time, money and inclination to do Drivers Education events and track days, thats one benefit.

If you like to show off your car at concourse and are into that high-polish look, thats another.

If you like time-distance driving or just social drives with other car owners, thats an advantage.

Then there is the parts counter discount, though thats only if you go to the dealer. Already discounted sales such as Suncoast, don't get additional discounts.

Mainly, you get an advantage if you have the free time and interest to participate in one of the events/activities the clubs organize.

Otherwise, you just gut a lot of stuff in the mail that may or may not be of interest to you.
