Griot's Spray-On Car Wash

I just tried this today on my black 997, and was pretty impressed. It goes on easily, leaves a nice shine, and even smells good--kinda like coconut sunscreen for my car. It took about 15 minutes to completely clean my (admittedly not terribly dirty) car. I wouldn't think of it as a substitute for a real wash if the car were really dirty, though.

So I give it a thumbs up!

Spray on, wash off, or spray on, wipe off ?

If it's the latter, I'll pass.

Their stuff is amazing. I use the speed shine on my car religiously and it stays clean a lot longer. It's a black car and aftter driving through rain (every once in a while) it will still be clean.

Another great product is Optimum No Rinse (ONR).

It took me a long time to finally give this product a shot. As a detailing enthusiast, I just couldn't bring myself to use these waterless washes because it goes against everything you learn as a detailer. It really is voodoo magic, and works amazingly well.

It's perfect for those who don't have a place to wash their own car, or have water restrictions. It's also great for those cold wintery months. I wash my cars in the garage with the door closed so it's nice and warm.

i'm skeptical about these type of products, i think i'd like to see the paint under a sungun after being washed like this to see what it will do to the clear coat ...

they work well as long as the car isn't filthy. great for lightly soiled car.

you can also add ONR into your car wash during a 2 bucket routine. i also make detailer spray using ONR.

Oh I was skeptical as well, but finally pulled the trigger when a pro detailing friend of mine convinced me to try it. I've used it several times on my black Subaru Legacy with no noticeable marring on the paint, and Subaru paint is very soft. I spray the car down with ONR to let it loosen up the dirt, then use the 2 bucket method to clean the car.

I live in a master planned community with water restrictions. I use a two bucket method almost all of the time every 2 to 4 weeks. Otherwise I use a quick detailer (cg v7) to get light dust off.

ONR is one of the more well known waterless washes out there. Any skeptical people should go to the autogeek forums and see how many people use waterless washes.

Agree!!! My detailer is the one who turned me on to ONR. Check his gallery of cars he uses it on.

This looks good but you're going to use a lot of the pre-mixed solution. Another method, which I prefer is the rinseless was using a wash polymer that you mix in one bucket, apply, then wipe off, then using a second bucket of clean water, rinse the microfiber wash mitt, all panel by panel. Works extremely well and the polymer and rinsing/cleaning of the wash mitt prevents swirls. There are several wash polymers for this method on the market.

I have to admit, when i was younger I bought a product like this while i was on a road trip to Florida, probably would have never thought to buy something like this but the sales girl was drop dead gorgeous and in a bikini...... so I bought a case. Any way i never used it on my 986 but i did use it on many of other cars.....had to use up my case. I never had a problem with it and it actually did produce a nice shine. Would i use it for my 997....probably not because i enjoy washing it by hand but it does work and doesn't mess up your paint.

I have love that stuff. It's awesome for your wheels too. Soon as you spray it on the car you and see the dirt brake down. Get some!

I use the Griots stuff. It is great for washing the car in the garage during the winter. I typically use one towel for the initial wiping and then another to buff it dry. IF you use their very soft towels, I haven't seen any marks in the paint. I don't use it that much, but it works well and is similar to Speed Shine.
