Cross country trip in a C2! Portland & Richmond
Bought my first Porsche! I live in Richmond and found a really great deal in Portland from Northwest Investment cars on a 997 with 18,000 miles. Initially I was going to transport it over but have always wanted to drive cross country. What better car to do it in!
After picking the car up I decided to take the scenic route down the coast of Oregon and California via highway 101. It added a full day of driving to my trip but it was well worth it! The first night I stopped off in Napa Valley, then headed to San Francisco. From San Fran I headed to Barstow, CA and took I40 all the way to Virginia. Ran into some snow and that was a bit scary with summer tires but I made it without a scratch
After we picked up the car my wife flew back to Virginia and I drove by myself. I wish I took more pictures but here is what I have. I would highly recommend this trip in a 997 if you are thinking about it.
I plan on modding this car with a GT3 kit, 3 pc wheels and suspension...can't wait to get started!
My wife at the dealership before the long 3500 mile journey home!
Taking some in car pictures while in Oregon
A panaromic shot of the National Redwood forest, these trees were amazing!
The road was super twisty and fun as well.
After about 30 minute jaunt in California I arrived at this beautiful beach
Some pictures in the Mojave Desert
On the border on Arizona and New Mexico
Well into New Mexico I encountered -15 degrees! I did snap a shot of -2 degrees.
Once I got into north Texas the scenery was pretty bland so I did not take many worthwhile pictures in Oklahoma, Arkansas & Tennessee
I would not hesitate to make this journey again (time permitting) and looking forward to enjoying my new Porsche

Thanks guys! It worked out really well actually since I purchased the car during Christmas week. I had a whole 7 days off from work and could not think of a better way to spend it
