2006 911 S suspension
Hi:
I just bought my first Porsche, a 2006 911 S. I have a sport button that tightens up the suspension. I haven't had a chance to get it on that curvy of roads yet to test it out. I noticed its a lot rockier ride. Does anyone have a similar car and what can you tell me about driving in sport mode? I also notice that the weight shifts backwards upon accerlation much more so than a 2006 911 base I have driven. Does this sound right? Any other comments on the 2006 911 S? Thanks!

Hey 3point8. I've a '05 997C2S.
Sport = fun!
Throttle response is much quicker (hooks up really quick when to go peddle is pushed), PSM is watered down a little which allows for some wheel spin and suspension firms up considerably.
I have a 6 speed so I don't know how the throttle changes with the auto. I believe the rev limiter cuts in quicker too.
When on though, the suspension is harsh for regular city driving. Bumpy roads will splash all the water out of your eyes from shaking. :O)
You can still have sport mode on and push the PASM button to normal. This will give you the throttle part with the softer ride.
Fun fun fun!

Going to guess you mean you have the PASM suspension button (standard on Carrera S) and not a button actually labeled "Sport". The Sport button is optional, if you don't have it, you don't have sport mode.
If you want the sport button, you can purchase it from suncoastparts.com for about $900 + install.

Sorry, I assumed when you said you had a sport button that you had the Sport Chrono optoin.
PASM stiffens the suspension so the sensation of acceleration is more pronounced because the rear end won't squat as much under heavy acceleration.
As for the "horses", all are available all the time. There are no additional horses added at any time. Although turbos are a totally different story.

The sport button makes the throttle response more sensitive and automatically engages the sport setting of PASM. If PSM is on, you also get a few more degrees of allowed slippage. The sportier throttle is helpful for heel-and-toeing on the track if anything. I don't really care for it on the street. I don't think it's worth an install if you don't already have it. You don't actually get any more power.

I acquired my 2006 C4S 10 days ago. I found a route to work that is 20 miles distance. Longer than the standard 4.5, but lots of twisties, hahaha! Let me tell you, they could've named the Sport button "Rocket". It turns the car into a beast on the backroads. The acceleration is ungodly, suspension lets you feel all the unevenness of two-lane blacktop so you can keep it on the road, and the tenacious grip of AWD is a nice confidence booster. When I get back to the point where I can expect traffic (and the po-po) I turn it back off, and have a gorgeous daily driver with manners. I never dreamed pushing a little button on the dash could deliver so much fun. Having said that, you are just wasting fuel using it on a four-lane or in town.
