How do you know it is locked? Hmmm, if the door opens when you pull the handle--just might not be locked! Wow....

Just remember, two flashes = bye bye (locked), one flash = hi (open).

If the horn did beep when locking I would on here asking how to disarm that feature. Nice to know about the double clicking the lock.

Well, if I have to do that, I might as well just insert the key into the key slot and turn it old school style.. then I know. The point of a remote key is to be able to use it 'remote'. Having some ability to activate a 'click', 'thunk', 'beep' or other audio sound when the lock system engages is a feature a lot of us owners would appreciate.

I like it as is without the chirp, though now that it was mentioned I see the benefit of it chirping. I'll play with the switch and see if this can be done easily.

I bet that if our factory settings have it chirping, this thread would probably be titled "How do I disable the beep beep". Hahahahah

Similar thread going as well.....

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...300-ideas.html

If you hit the button to lock and your door is still open , you will get a chirp. Then closing the door it remains locked. I have done this several times..but only when it's on my mind. My car is not my DD so I seem to forget to do it and do find myself walking back or sprinting back to the car to make sure it's locked. It's frustrating sometimes when you think about it. Certainly an argument about a car that's in the price range of what we paid to not have something so simple...yet there are things this car has that others don't.

Makes for conversation!!

Personally I don't consider that a shortcoming of the P-car, I love the fact that doesn't make that horrible noise and it doesn't call the attention of people around when i leave the car, the sound of the doors locking when I am close to the car is more than enough for me.

I understand why some people may "want" it, but i understand and like the way porsche engineers did it.

That would be me, I would be the first person on with a thread to turn off annoying "it's locked" chirping from the horn. I like the warnings if I leave the car with a light on, or hood unlocked etc, but I don't need a lock verification noise everytime. It disturbs neighbors and I think it's obnoxious as well as calling attention to the fact you are leaving your pcar. Porsche may have screwed up the stereo stuff, but they got everything else right including the lock issues

I'm a new owner to my 2009 P...I have already found myself running back to my car just to check the doors and unlock it then lock it again with the kep fob just to make sure.

My BMW 530i that I just traded in had the option to have no Beep, beep once when unlock/beep once when locked, beep once when unlock/beep twice when locked, No beep when unlocked/beep once when locked, etc, etc.

I set it to be silent (no beep) when I unlocked it, and beep once when I locked it...it also flashed it's lights once when unlocking and twice when locking for the visual assurance too (and that could be turned on or off as well).

I liked that feature and I do miss it.

BUT, I'll get over it...I've got a freaking PORSCHE baby!!!!

Well, it looks like I will NOT try to "simulate" an open glove compartment door. Why? As stated above, the beep occurs to remind you that something is ajar (the doors, lid, etc). So I am going to leave it as-is. Dang, this was going to be an e-z experiment.

For those with the aftermarket gadgets to make it beep, how do you now tell if your doors/lids are ajar?
