Oil....?

Has anyone used AMSoil? In their euro line up they have 5-40 weight. Oem calls for 0-40, but dealer says its ok. What you all think?

I'm interested to know also.....I used Amsoil in my hayabusa and Lexus SUV and they've been great.

Just bought the Porsche, and the previous swore by Mobile One.

I moved onto Castrol 10W60, we use it in all N/A BMW M Power cars.
Mobil 1 is just to thin for my liking.

5-40w would be fine provided you don t use the car in sub zero weather often. The cold viscosity (5) is a little thicker or higher than the 0...
I m fine with Mobil 1... Remember the commercial,, "motor oil is motor oil"

Too thin? My wife has an Acura MDX that uses 5-20. 120,000 miles on it and absolutely no problems.

Porsche engine design to use xxW40 oil so it is not a good idea to use xxW60. You surely lost power with xxW60. In case you want a little thicker oil then xxW50 would be more than enough (but not necessary)

By the way Castrol 10W60 is not a good oil. They lost their viscosity quickly after only a few thousand miles

I was kidding when I said "oil is oil" but when you get to the quality of Mobil 1 or any good synthetic oil I really doubt it matters which one if using the correct weight.

I doubt anyone would do that. Why do you suggest that?

Is there scientific proof of this?

Car doesn't feel any different!!
