Porsche Sport Mode Software

I have a base '11 Carrera Cab with PDK and recently upgraded the exhaust to Sport Exhaust and loving it. Now the question is it worth upgrading to the Porsche Sport Mode as well. P-CAR will never be tracked by me. Local ATL dealers are quoting about $1600 installed (with PCA discount) for the upgrade. Should I do this? I'm thinking for the cost with labor of $1600 it would be worth the improved performance. Others thoughts are welcome.

For that price, I would go with the softronic tune. My car has SC and felt a nice change when I added the tune. Should save you $600 and perform better.

Do you have the upgraded paddles? The combination of the paddles, SC, and PSE really transforms the car. Best three mods on a base c2. Love mine!

Does have Sport Steering Wheel with paddles as originally ordered from factory along with 19" "S" wheels/tires. I purchased car about a year ago with 2200 miles on it.

If my 997.2 didn't have the Sport option, I would sell it ASAP.

My 0.2

I would be concerned that going the SOFTRONIC route, might affect my Certified Porsche Pre-owned 100K/60mo extended factory warranty. If using third-party software or parts kills the Porsche Warranty, it could potentially cost me a lot more than this $1,000 savings for repairs.

Excellent! I would totally do the upgrade. Zit not necessary, but Sport/Sport Plus mapping is a hoot.

I don't have PDK as mine is a Tip, but I added Sport Mode and it's well-worth the money. The shift point transition occurs more rapidly, in auto mode the same along with higher RPM shifting, and gear drops to first when you stop. Additionally, other performance dynamics are impacted as with PSM tolerance levels and of course throttle response. I only wish I didn't always have to push the button with start-up.

Sport mode software is a must for pdk cars. The softronic tune makes more power and sport mode software does different things, but is more important imho for your pdk car. Regular and sport modes are great for every day driving. I usually use regular if my girlfriend is with me and sport mode if I'm alone. Sports plus is over the top for the street imho and best suited for the track.

First mod I did after reading this forum. Actually rolled it into the purchase if my car and glad I did as without it the car is just a normal vehicle and the PDK is disappointing to say the least. Press that little button and you now have a real sports car and the PDK is nothing but astonishing. I only drive in Sport now, auto or manual, doesnt matter they are both so much more fun and suitable in any road enviornment, sport Plus is another level that is just insanity ;o)

When you did this upgrade, did the Porsche upgrade package include both Sport and Sport+ buttons and software or are they two separate packages?

It included the button strip with sport & sport+ as well as the buttons for my other options on that strip. Then it is just an activation code from Porsche in the motherland that the dealer has to enter to make the software work. All in all its like a 15 minute install but i am sure they charge more time with it.

I added it to my 09 S shortly after it's announcement. $1600 sounds a bit high. I'd check around on the price.
