Im in with the black.

 

I like the silver better. It shows off your nice wheels much more.

 

I am in the minority these days, but like Zer0-60 I do think black rims look like winter steel rims. Perhaps because I live up north, but black rims also don't show the styling as well (from a distance you could have steels, five stars, or a mesh and would look the same).

That being said, on a light slilver car like yours, black rims will pop out more.

Blackwheels on silver are so bad $&@!

 

I was in love with my oem carrera s2 wheels on 7 mm spacers all around. Never really cared for black rims but i came accross gloss charcoal hre p40 wheels and decided to go for it. At first i said what did i just do. But since i spend not a little amount on the wheels, decided to just keep them on... The look has really grown on me and now feel the old silver wheels are so old style. I went to the lambo dealer and saw 2 gallardos side by side one with bright silver wheels and the other gloss black wheels. It was a no brainer which to choose. Black wheels on a lambo gallardo.

 

Glooss Black,will give a good contrast.

 

I think the black looks good, but only if you get the silver lip as you show on your picture. Without the lip, I think black wheels just blend into the tire and don't look particularly good. I also like the gloss black finish.

 

Exactly my thoughts, I only like Black with the silver lip.

 

Ok so the majority think black is better. Is there anyone that has done the same switch and regrets the look?! Any photos before or after?

 

I like them both, funny I bought another set of wheels so I could change them out when I feel like changing it up.

I actually prefer the GT Silver, but every day the Gloss Black Grows on me.

 

Do yourself a huge favor and before you go paint your wheels, invest in a 2-3 cans of plastidip (dipyourcar.com). You can change your wheel color whenever you want. You wont be able to do the silver lip but you can spend 6 months weeks in black and when you are done, just peel it off like skin and PRESTO you are back to the original wheel. I have had a blast with Plastidip, I have done silver, black, gold, matte, gloss, and a few weeks ago my daughter wanted to give Sally some lipstick so we did one wheel fire engine red......yes only one wheel. One of these days i will document my process and post to this forum and include some fun setups I have done. I have the plastidip thing down to a science. Just some quick tips:
1. the thicker you layer it on the easier it peels off. Dont hesitate to do 6-8 coatings.
2. If you can remove the wheel you will have a much easier time. While you can spray with the wheels on the car, make certain that you have covered your calipers and rotors really well. (insert plastic garbage backs through the wheel holes). I sprayed with the wheels on the car only once - even though I was really careful i found that there was still slight overspray that got on my body paint which was not visible but I lost my smooth as glass finish until I cleaned it up many months later.
3. Again - If you can remove the wheel you will have a much easier time.
4. I have found that if you can block the spray from getting inside the barrel of the wheel it makes cleanup much much easier - I have made foam cutouts that fit inside the barrel up against the inside of the rims - this prevents the spray from going into the barrel which is a pain to clean because it does not get a very thick coating.

 

I typically don't like black rims. But I like that black spoke with the silver lip in your pshopped pic

 

Not on a silver car but on a grey. No regrets except that I should have switched sooner. I was surprised how much it changed the appearance of the car. From somewhat "elegant" with the silver wheels to more rugged with the black HRE's which is a better fit for the car imo.

 

Go with black. I like the silver lip which is necessary otherwise the wheels look smaller.
