seems simple to me, hire an attorney. if they left the keys in the car an attorney will spank there *** in court, it wont matter what the valet ticket claims

I avoid valet parking at all times. But, on the 1 or 2 occasions I had to I pay the service a few extra bucks to keep the car in front under their 'watchful' eye.

ps. I used to be a valet parker in my school days at a high end restaurant in Beverly Hills. I know first hand what dumb *** kids do w/ 'special cars'.

I've been told the 'small print' on the back of parking receipts means nothing and can always be challenged.

GL in resolving this matter.

I agree 100%. Gotta feel sorry for the guy, and I would be extremely pissed, but I would never valet park my car. I just wouldn't stop, or I would go somewhere else.

For all of the "hire an attorney" replies, why not just wait until you see how they handle it first? In my experience, as soon as the attorneys are brought in, the tone changes - and rarely for the better. Sometimes relying on the golden rule pays off. They may surprise you. As others have posted, failing the casino doing the right thing, that's what insurance is for.

Anyone recommend an attorney or know a good one...btw...CA has authority over civil matters in Indian country (subject to Public Law 280 passed by congress in 1953)

Hopefully the police actually do a thorough investigation. They may be able to find a cell phone call or text between a valet and the arrested party. Definitely sounds like an inside job. I have a buddy who got set up by a girl. Their "date" ended with a gun to his head and him getting put in his own trunk...in his underwear. He escaped and the girl and her boyfriend/accomplice were busted due to the police being able to locate their residence from cell records even though she was using a disposable phone. Be cautious of who you meet on Facebook, and what kind of pictures you post of your belongings. Good luck.

Why are you so quick to seek an attorney? You haven't even let this play out yet. Your first mistake was trusting a valet in the first place; why add more stress to your life, in a jurisdiction foreign to you, and not even close to your home base. File a claim with your insurance company and let them do what they do every day. Trust me, you will be WAY overmatched if you try it your way - and - the stress will creep into the more settled parts of your life - like family and work. Karma, dude, Karma.

I had to get an attorney involved in what should have been a very straight forward accident a few years ago. I was at a stop sign and rear-ended; and the other guy accepted responsibility. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth and was a lot of extra time and aggravation.

IMHO let your insurance company handle the issue. Only go the lawyer route if you absolutely need to.

Good luck.

This even more so if they actually have your keys. FYI this would also apply to a repair shop. Ask me how I know... As for valeting.......I'd rather walk several blocks than valet.

+1 and the sooner the better. Insurance company isn't going to battle this thing for you. They have only one interest, pay the minimum they can get away with. Their lawyers are there to protect them not you.

unless you have proof that valet gave the keys to the thief, i doubt you have any case against valet. also, valet is usually outsourced. this is probly not a liability for the casino.

it's a criminal theft. insurance will cover it with a deductible. your premium shouldn't go up since it is comprehensive. buy a new car and hope you get your laptop back

you do seem to have a lot of bad luck going to SFO and now Tahoe! lOL....

Hey guys the Valet is part of the Casino....I spoke to an attorney and he said that the Casino can get it royally for Negligence....So I'm going to see what the Auto Insurance and Home Owners Insurance will pick up and go from there...

Basically they way it worked was I gave the keys to the valet....The Valet left the keys in the car....The theif walked by jumped in the car and took off....Crashed it in the boon docks in Sonoma which is a 100 miles from her address in San Jose....She also has 3 prior Felonies on her record...
