997 shift **** and boot problem

Does anyone have instructions on how to reattach the shift **** to the boot? It came apart as I was installing my SSK. Nothing appears to be ripped or damaged in anyway.

Yes, super easy.

The larger/thicker plastic ring goes on the inside of the shift **** cover. Gather the leather and place the plastic ring at the base like this (I used a little glue to hold it in place.)

Next, take the smaller plastic ring, and insert it on the other side.

more pics to follow.

Push the smaller ring so it seats on the bottom.

When you install the new shift boot, pull it over the shifter, and push the speed tabs into place.

Then slide the **** over the shift lever.

The two will lock together using the larger plastic ring. It is a rotating lock.

Thank you for the prompt response! It makes sense....but the leather seems bulky when I try to tuck it into the thick bottom ring. Is this right?

It can be bulky, I used glue because my cover was Alcantara. The leather makes a much snugger fit with the smaller plastic ring.

Finally got it! It makes it easier if you flip the boot upside down and press the smaller (outside) ring against a table to wedge it inside the inner ring. It's also worth mentioning (for those that may use this thread as a future reference) to make sure that the holes on the inner ring and the shift **** are aligned. It takes some force once you get the **** inside the boot to turn and lock the **** in place.

Bbywu, thanks again for your help!
