Liquid additives

Guys-- be careful with Water Wetter. I did research on it and found out that the way it provides better cooling is by letting the water get "closer" to the radiator. Antifreeze chemically keeps the water away from the metal in your cooling system- so it can't rust. Water wetter allows the water to contact the metal better-- increasing heat transfer-- but rusting more too. Classic car guys found this out when, to compensate for old cooling systems, used it-- and found significant rust after a week or so. Please research it before you use it!!! My .02....

Research on Water Wetter...
several of my buds run hard core sport bikes at track events-- keeping the heat down keeps the horsepower up. they have complained about seeing signs of corrosion (tiny aluminum ***** in their coolant), and also, several years ago a Car and Driver editior had a classic car (iron block chevy, if I remember right) that was over heating. He heard about Water Wetter and tried it to resolve the over heating without buying a new and extra row radiator. Wihtin a week he checked his coolant and it was rust brown-- and that was after doing a full system chemical fluch previous to adding the water wetter in the prescribed amount. that was good enough for me decided to not add any to my bike...

Was thinking about running octane booster if I plan on running the car hard. The premium I use is 94 octane and the octane booster says it adds 7 octane so would give me a total of 101.
Good idea or no?

I have heard nothing good about these, I would not do it. Why do you need 101 Octane?

While 94 fuel is pretty good(can't get it here), if you're doing an event or race you may want to step it up short term to advance your timing. See the results of this octane boost test. You're certainly not going to get 7 full points, but may see a clean 2 to 2.5. I use the Amsoil octane boost quite a bit with no issues at all.....only advanced timing and a faster car. My cost on this booster is about $8 per bottle/tank. So, not a huge issue. Try to google race fuel in your area if you want a true 100 octane. These boosts will give you max 2 to 2.5 full points.

If you have no detonation, keep your car in good tune, and use the Porsche recommended octane level of good quality fuel, using octane booster is a waste of money, especially when you could buy a fairly decent bottle of wine for the $20 - 25 you'd spend on the stuff.

I like the wine idea! However, your car's computer can and will retard your timing if your fuel is now a high enough octane. On the same note, it advances it when it does. So, if you're doing an event or going on a spirited drive, you should be able to feel the difference in adding a couple of points to your octane. Try it for yourself and let us know what you think. Again, the bottle of Amsoil boost is only $8 and it will give you an additional 2 full points per the study. Or, try the other top 2. Let us all know. 94 is pretty darn good for fuel. Utah, Cal and a few others are stuck with 91 w/10% ethanol.

I've never done that with any car in decades of driving fuel injected cars and motorcycles and have never had a single clogged injector. I do buy quality gas which has injector cleaners, and do change fuel filters per manufacturer intervals. I probably throw money away in other areas though
