I then started the car & let it idle for a few mins. No CEL & the idle seems to be much more solid than last night. Ranging from dead solid to maybe 25 rpm movement so much better than the 50+ jump it was making last night. No shake in the cabin either so things seem better so far.

I will test more later but hopefully that was it.
I hope this corrects your issue.
Probably it was not tighten after some maintenance works. You should also check the others caps (coolant, power brake, power steer...) to ensure they are tight.

I cleared the codes but have not ran the car yet. I will test tomorrow & see if they return.

Any idea what would cause misfire codes across all cylinders?

Thanks.
Here is a page from a diagnostic manual that I have. Granted it is for the 996 but the fault codes are similar.

I drove the car about 60 miles today & the issues seems to be resolved. So it was either a loose oil cap or dirty MAF, but not sure which.

Thanks to those that posted advice.

i just posted over on RL (and here too? i cant remember) a couple wks ago about the same issue - misfies galore. but i also had codes that pointed to the MAF so i cleaned it off which seemed to solve the issue temporarily...until i got to the track. in my first sesssion, i started going into limp mode after only a few laps. turns out it was a loose ground connection on the MAF. i jury rigged it to stay in place and no further troubles the entire wknd. i swear, i hate that little son of a b*tch MAF. are you KIDDING me with all the havoc it can cause???

bottom line is i think the original issue was a dirty MAF causing the misfires. but i think when i unplugged it and cleaned it was when the wires in the connector became dislodged causing the limp mode. i hate that thing.
