Help! Dectane, Rottec
Did a search but even more confused.
I'm looking to upgrade my rear lights with LEDs. I haven't kept to date on whats going over the last couple of months but today logged in to find out if anything got any better in terms of reliability with the rear LED upgrades. I've seen a number of threads about errors, etc.
Can someone please make a recommendation on which lights to go with for the rear LEDs?
Thank yoU!

Rotec had some issues in the beginning. I haven't heard of any issues since. Dectane had some defective ones but most people on here including myself, had it for years w/o issues. I don't think you need to think about reliability. They both look different, if you want more of an OEM look than dectane. If you want an aftermarket look than go for Rotec.

I have had the Dectane lights for 18 months with no problems. I think it really comes down to which look you prefer (OEM vs. aftermarket). The domestic vendor I used is no longer selling these lights, so I can't help you there. The swap takes 10 minutes max, and that's if you take the time to clean the light wells. I'm also in PDX and happy to join you for the light switch if you'd like.

In Feb, I picked up 2010 Audi R8 5.2 with only 10K miles (had it boxed shipped from Dallas, TX)
I will probably look to do a 991 C4S in a couple of years.

It's still on the selling block but have always wanted to change the rear lights - I think the new owners will appreciate it as well.

Dectanes look nice when they are off. Also look closer to OEM, but the rottec look better when on. The LED go all the way around the lights when the brake is on. Dectanes have a "C" like some of the lights don't light up when braking. Just my opinion.

Similar, if not the same, to Rottec's. Rottec (and Del Rey Customs) re-use the stock wiring harness to plug into the new light fixture, Dectane has its own wiring harness. I've had Dectanes for almost 2 years, never any issues.

Thanks! Did you order online or call them? I was looking for their 15% discount code

DelRey's lights are the same as RotTec's. RotTec is original company that designed them and had them manufactured in China. The manufacturer is now selling them to anyone.
RotTec offers a 1 year warranty, DelRey offers 90 day. DelRey seems to be pretty responsive to emails and phone calls, have no experience with RotTec.
Try to check out both the RotTec and Depo/Dectane lights in person if you can. Pictures really don't show you how they look. I strongly preferred the look of the RotTecs until I saw them in person, now I strongly prefer the Depos. The RotTecs look a *little bit* cheesy in person, they remind me a bit of the various aftermarket "altezza" tail lights available for Hondas. They're not bad, but they certainly don't look like something Porsche would have produced. The Depos look like OEM products in person, very clean.

I much prefer the rottec, when on, and especially when it reverse.
It's funny how people say the dectane lights look more OEM, both are aftermarket, the OEM LED is for 997.2. It's a moot point.
