IMS Lawsuit - Owners Win
Not sure if this is old news, but I just came across this thread on Rennlist. I do not know if we are allowed to provide the link but I thought I would at least inform this forum's members. You guys can Google it.
Moderators,
If this is a conflict of interest, my apologies and please delete.
IMS Class Action Suit 2001-2005 owners win. Update Mar 12
Update - it is not yet time to file a claim. The court has yet to approve the settlement - this is expected sometime in April. I will update this post as soon as it is time to file a claim.........

Correct me if I'm wrong. After reading all the info...It looks like one can only submit a claim AFTER their IMS has failed?
I thought the acknowledgement of a bad/weak component would necessitate a recall fix before it actually fails.

Not unless it's a bonafide safety issue, although they could decide to recall to avoid risk of destroying their reputation and market position. Ideally Porsche should simply provide a goodwill warranty for the life of the car (in stock form) IMO.

Only winners were the lawyers. Porsche should have jumped in front of this and just covered the issue for 100k miles (something reasonable and fair for everyone) regardless of the age of car- as long as you have records of maintenance and the car hasn't been abused. You can't go one week without reading about it somewhere or in Panorama or Excellence magazine tech sections. The company needs to get this mess behind them and extend all owners that are affected some coverage.

Appears that some 2004-2005's would be covered if it occurs w/in the next year or two. Guess that's something.

Does anyone know where this info came from in the first place. I am looking for something more official than a forum posting. Would be good to have it handy for the "just in case".

For when the "just in case" occurs, what would be handy w/b Google.
