Opinions on a potential car...

Hey guys, I've been offered a 06 997 S.

Specs are as follows:

6 speed
Sport chrono
Sport Exhaust
Full Leather
Ceramic brakes
Nav
Bose unit
19" sports set
19" winter set
Atlas grey
Black int.
own owner car (mid-aged gentleman) with all records of service from original purchase dealership, non smoker, never hit, no rain and always garaged.
11,868 on clock

Asking 44k local.

I would still have a PPI done. But how's the price and specs sound?

Just sold my 2005 997S Launch Car (full leather, PCCBs, etc etc) for a few K bucks more than that. I had 28K miles so I think the price is pretty good assuming the condition is excellent. I thought I had low mileage but 11K miles for a 2006 is really low.

Good Luck!

I agree with the others, get a PPI and DME report done, that is a Great Price for a well optioned car.

Agreed. As I recall the IMS failure still happens on 2006 series and with only 11k on the clock its a perfect candidate for a failure. Just something to keep in mind,

I would check the passenger side door to see when it was build, if it's not an early 06' build one then I would not worry about it. There has not been a case (at least on all the popular Porsche forums) with IMS failure on the newer bearing. There are only stories of a friend's sister's cousin's brother's uncle who had an IMS failure on his 06.

Back to topic: OP, that is a great price if the PPI turns out fine.

My biggest concern was it being an 06 and a chance of the IMS issue. What month build would be considered a safe build?

FWIW, I traded in an 07 C2S w/ceramics w/a lot more miles for that money so that seems like a pretty good ask. PPI and if you're worried about an IMS issue, look into an aftermarket warranty. GL.
