PDK Upgrades (MF wheel and Sport Mode) - Questions!

I've got a 2010 PDK C2.

I want to upgrade the wheel to the multifunction wheel using the insert piece Suncoast sells.

I also want to upgrade to sport mode with the software upgrade and switch.

I've decided to order the parts through my local dealer, as they will price-match and I think it will remove an extra layer if I have any problems.

I'm looking for upgrade success/failure stories; one of the dealers here warned me that the wheel upgrade is "sometimes unreliable" which I found surprising.

The software upgrade is well worth the investment. It should cost $1200-1500 (PDK) at the Dealer. If you are a PCA member, you should be getting a 10-15% discount on parts and labor. I upgraded my 2011 Cab in Jan, was great move for me. Can't comment on wheels.

Have you spoken to John at Boardwalk (now Porsche of Plano)?

Glad to see a fellow Frisco resident online.

Yeah, Boardwalk is where I plan to have the work done. I have a really good relationship with the folks there as well as Park Place.

I went ahead and pulled the trigger and ordered the parts. We'll see how it goes...

Both were yellow, but they are gone now. I also don't drink coffee (caffeine) so I was never at Starbucks. Many exotics in Frisco. Love it!

Good Luck with your upgrade.

I want to upgrade my wheel to MF too. RAC quoted me $180 to install it and I was going to order through Suncoast.

I'm in Frisco too. Any good roads you know of up here that we can open them up on? Or any good tracks that you don't have to be a member to drive on? Curious where people go now for some "fun".

I didn't even think about RAC - I guess they have the Porsche system for enabling features too, eh? That's a very good price.

I'll let you know where mine falls out.

As for roads - I'd love to find a nice road!

Yeah, the prices and work of RAC are great. I'll probably use them for any upgrades. As for roads, there are supposed to be some wide open ones north of 380. I'll have to look again for specifics.

I am going to check out farm road 455. Others recommend it. Wide open.

Google " 455 " North of DFW, the Dallas North Tollway just about dead ends into it.

Go East or West....

A couple of updates on my experience...

The parts are fully installed now, but not yet working - waiting on Porsche activation codes which take ~24hrs. Also the wheel needs straightening out. So I'm in for another day at least.

PDK Multifunction Wheel

Sport and Sport Plus Modes

So, one thing that's concerning me - this wheel part is for Sport Chrono cars, which I don't have (note the display.) Suncoast explicitly says if you don't have the display you can't add it so...not sure how this is gonna go down tomorrow w/ the activation. We'll see!

I've been a pain in the *** about this upgrade because it's stressing me out - but the dealer is being pretty awesome. Swapped my loaner out for a 2014 Boxster which is a phenomenal car and is making the process much easier to swallow!

Looking good! You will LOVE Sport and Sport Plus. They make the car feel much faster IMO. It's a blast driving in those modes. . I use Sport mode most of the time.

The new Boxster is fun for sure, I drove one a while back. The S version really moves.

Let us know what you think about the MF wheel. I really wanted it but am not sure if you can skip between sources with it. Like going from Sirius to IPod by using a button on the wheel. Although having volume controls would be worth it for me.

From what I am told, there's one button on the wheel you can program to be whatever you want.
