"Looks a little like a Miata."
This would NOT happen in LA or Greenwich, CT.
Last Sunday evening, I decided to take advantage of the unusually mild summer temps here and drop the top for a little spin down one of my favorite highways by the lake. I pulled into a little picnic area parking lot to turn around for the trip home, and a guy hollers at me in a friendly way,
"Hey, nice car! What kind is it?"
I respond, with "Thanks, it's a Porsche."
"A what?"
"A Porsche."
"What kinda Porsche?"
"It's a 911." (No sense in causing more confusion - keep it simple...)
"Well, it sure is pretty!"
"Well, thank you; It's a lot of fun."
"I'll bet it is. Looks a little like a Miata, only a little bigger. I like it."
"Thanks. Well, see you around."
"Yup."
One more reason to like Arkansas.

(1) He doesn't know anything about cars, (2) he doesn't care if people know that, and most importantly (3) he knows he really likes the Porsche (whatever that is). That's about as sincere a compliment as anyone is ever likely to get.

Reminds me of the time I was driving my 356 and at a stoplight a guy in a 928 pulled up next to me. I looked over and nodded and he responded with "nice car.....what is it?"
Another time, in another 356 I pulled up to the fast food drive thru and the 17 year old kid almost came through the window wanting to know if this was the new Mitsubishi.

I envy him for not being concerned about IMS issues and how often to change his oil, etc. LOL! Seriously though, I would have spent more time talking about cars with him, but seemed a little over served at the time.

So you're going to identify my Beechcraft from my Cessna and my Hughes from my Bell? Sure some of you could, but good luck with that.
You'd think he's seen a 911 before though, maybe he was on drugs and thought it was funny.

We don't have a P-car dealer in this state, so we don't have many P-cars to look at.
