TPMS Tire Presaure Sensors "Life"
Looking at adding new wheels and a sport spring coil over system. When talking to the speed shop he quoted me new TPMS at $800.00 ouch!!! How long should the OEM sensors last? My car is an 06 C2S should they be replaced? I was not aware how they work and it seems that they have individual battery's. I'm seeing after market replacements for $200.00. Thoughts???

I must be on borrowed time then being that my car is 7 and a half years old and I've never replaced them! Thanks

Anyway I was running my car without tpms for almost a year....

mine lasted about 5 years and i got replacements from oewheels. so far so good. oewheels sensors are made in china, oem sensors are made in germany. you'll need the 433mhz sensors for your car.

Taiwan will never claim they are Chinese...(joking)

Simply go to Ebay and look for them there. 433mhz for your car....got all four for my 2006C4s for less than 200$....have Discount or Americas tire install for around 70$. Bam! Done.

On another note, I have an 09' and when I asked my P dealer to check the remaining battery life left on my TPMS two months ago, they said 48-56mos! Lesson here is don't trust everything your P dealer tells you, but we knew that..

As others said, you can buy the sensors aftermarket. It worked well for me.
Actually, I had them installed by a local Porsche Indy since I wanted to start building a relationship with someone other than the local dealer.
However, parts and labor from a tire store should cost you less than $300.
A durametric reading can tell how much life is left for each sensor. I had only one sensor off on my 2008, and the others had 24 to 36 months of life remaining. I decided to change all of them since when the TPMS battery goes, it goes suddenly, and I would hate seeing another error message...

I have an 07 with a Aug 06 build date. I just checked my battery life with my Durametric tool and I have 13 months left on one and a little more on the other three. So mine are 7 now and I have about a year to go. Battery life likely is influenced temperature extremes. Sounds like the oemwheels route is the way to go.
