Wth....do any of us really drive our rides for the gas mileage factor? I don't think most of us have Porsches to putput around at 55-60...and never lay into the go fast pedal....get real....my computer avg mpg says 21....I don't care....I drive it daily and love the performance, handling etcetc....and simply drive it like Dr Porsche said to....!!

Yeah, I think that example is just the small 30 mile segment, not the entire tank full measure of mpg. I would suspect many of us get a few runs in where the mpg numbers are quite a bit higher. My reference was to the end of tank fill up where I actually look at that number once in a blue moon.

I believe the question was relative to what is possible. A lot of people on here do exercise their cars at the track. You should try it some time if you haven't already done so.

My last car was a hybrid (Honda CRZ) so I got in the habit of tracking my mileage on Fuelly.

You can see my real-world results on the C2 here:

http://www.fuelly.com/driver/DerekStuts/carrera

The peaks represent tanks that were 75% highway or so. The valley represents the week after I got the Sport and Sport Plus buttons installed.

Just got back from a road trip last night and at an average speed of 130 kmph, tad under 3k RPM, 6th gear set to cruise and I got between 12 to 14 kms to a litre of gas. Freakin awesome!

PS: 2007 997.1 with 17K kms

That's because you installed high pressure fuel injectors. The mpg computer still thinks that you have standard fuel injectors.

I think we are all confirming why the 911 is such a great car, one minute it's doing great mpg when we want that, next it's giving us a great big grin as its hurling us down the road at speed! I avoided DBs, Mazers, etc as I do a lot of miles and need that flexibility to drive far one day and drive like I stole it the next, the 911 is the only 2+2 that does that well. 52k gen2 on the clock and it still feels like new.

Right! I'm lucky if I get 13mpg, seems like my fuel tank has a leak, the needle just keeps going down.

I'm right with you there. I do about 80% city driving, 20% highway (avg. 120km/h). My dash reads a constant 15.0L/100km (about 15.6mpg). Not sure where you others are getting your astronomical numbers from. I can only assume it is due to significantly more highway driving.
