997.2 C2 Recommended Mods?

Hey everyone, new here. Just got my first Porsche, an '09 997 Carrera with PDK and Sport Chrono. Heres a couple pics I've already posted in the other topic.

Anyway back to the point, I've never changed anything on my other cars before and I've kept them all stock so I am completely new at this. I have plans for the Porsche but as I've never done this before I would highly appreciate any feedback I can get.

In terms of aesthetics, my priorities are a ducktail and new rims. So far I've looked at the Getty Ducktail Sport and the Misha Ducktail. I tried looking at MA Shaw but I can't seem to find it on their website for the 997. Anyway, I'm leaning towards the Getty and I've already sent them an email regarding shipping to Taiwan. From the pictures on Getty's website, it seems like the finish on it isn't as good as the Misha. Are there any problems with the Getty? I was also wondering if it would be a good idea to go up to 19" with the wheels? Any recommendations on brands would be really helpful.

Also regarding performance mods, is there anything in particular I should do first? It's my daily driver so I'm not really looking to do anything too crazy, just enough so there is a noticeable difference in both sound and performance. I would want to change the exhaust system but I was quoted $5300 sans labour for the PSE at my OPC. What aftermarket exhausts would you guys recommend? Also, is the ECU worth upgrading?

Thank you!

If you do the ducktail, I would get a gt3 front bumper to balance out the look. I have a full Fabspeed exhaust and I'm really happy with it. Others seem to like awe, tubi, and innotech. Some new wheels would look good or possibly some spacers if you like the stock wheels.

On my 997.2 c2 cab I've done minimal mods, but what I've added is a gundo for the exhaust note, 19 in turbo rims, eibach springs, quad exhausts, clear corners, and painted the calipers. Looking for a wing next. 19in rims plus lowered will make the car look more aggressive which is nice Since the c2's ride to high Imo. Gundo is a cheap mod which will make your car sound like pse at a fraction of the cost.

Similar to the gundo, fister mod to your side mufflers and adding a sharkwerks center bypass will give you plenty of exhaust at much less than getting the PSE.

You can contact Darin and see if he has any 997.2 exhaust already modded that he can send you, as he does ship internationally.

The above exhaust mods cost less than $1000 USD, do a search as they have been discussed.

Also I do believe the EVOMSIT software tune is worth it, no affiliation but Sharkwerks is first class service and very responsive. Look at their website for best mods for your car by model.

These are the core things I would do first:

- Wheels
- Suspension
- Exhaust
- GT3 Front Bumper or maybe just a lip
- Rear wing

Great looking car- congratulations.
I have a 2012 S and have done the SharkWerks center muffler bypass, upgraded wheels and did a software tune, which did increase HP but also made the throttle more responsive. I'm holding off on a short throw shifter but that will likely be my next modification.
My recommendation would be wheels, exhaust, tune, suspension...maybe a wing.

Congratulations on the 997! I just got a 997.2 C2 in black as well, I am absolutely in love with this car.
I can only chime in on the exhaust. I went with the Tubi Style exhaust and literally could not be any happier. I read that some members experienced drone around 2-2.5k rpm at cruising speed, but I have absolutely zero drone (perhaps I'm just lucky?). To me, it is exactly how the car should sound stock. It has a gurgle at low speeds, but is rather tame until you get above 4k rpm. It's aggressive, but not overdone. Good luck with your decisions
[wanted to add: I realize exhaust is completely subjective, I'm just speaking from my experience]

Dashington,

My apologies for straying from the topic, but is the Bentley yours as well? I have GIAC software for it that will add another 110-120hp!

If you are interested in that along with some bits for the Porsche, email me. I have many contacts in Taiwan as well for install. Most of my focus the last few years has been servicing Asia, so I am connected there.

Talk soon!
