HELP My Key is Stuck in Ignition Even Though It Turns On and Off
Hey guys,
Today I walked out to my car in the Subway parking lot and put my key in the ignition like I always do. I went to turn the car on and it would not do so. Naturally, I turned the key back counter clockwise and to my surprise it would not budge.
I called a Porsche friend of mine and he told me there is a key release next to the ignition area and I found it. I popped the small plastic piece off with a flat head screw driver and saw three small holes. I then took an alan wrench and played with it for 30 minutes. I felt absolutely no difference and stopped using it.
The car's dash lights up, the radio works, everything. It does not seem to be a battery problem at all!
I tried to jump it just in case and of course it didn't work. Then, all of a sudden my buddy hopped in and pressed the key really hard inward and got the car to start. I was scared to turn it back off but tested it and this time it wouldn't turn off! So I did the same thing he did and I pushed the key in really hard and attempted to turn it off and this time it worked.
So now, my car is in the garage safe and sound with the key completely stuck in the ignition, but as of now I can literally start and shut off the car as many times as I want just by pushing the hell out of the key toward the column as I turn it left or right.
Just in case something is up with the battery, I plugged it into my Porsche Tequipment battery tender and it is showing that the battery is completely full which I already know is not accurate because it never does that. Ever. I think it is confused because the key is in the ignition.
Please help me out here guys!! I did a search and saw that I am not the only person with this problem except everyone else seemed to have a problem with their battery or something like that. My car is completely fine, just the key is stuck.
Any and all help is MUCH appreciated!!!
Thanks,
John
