997 Roof Rack problems

Purchased a roof transport system for my '11 911 GTS from Suncoast, and I cannot for the life of me get it to mount:

No problem getting the base attachments bolted into the roof in the proper orientation. The issue is with the crossbars: the allen bolts in the crossbars will not seat into the roof mounts (yes the bars are mounted in the correct front/back/forward/rearward position, and they sit neatly over the base attachments).

I even took one of the bolts out of the front cross bar and found it will not screw into any of the base attachments. The best I accomplished initially was getting one side of each crossbar attached. Now, none of them will screw in properly.

I've even moved all the base attachments around to different positions. I think my hardware is misthreaded.

Any thoughts? Anyone had this problem before? It's a pretty simple procedure to follow, and it seems like it's been pretty straighforward for everyone else.

I would give Suncoast a call and explain what's going on.

Planning on doing that tomorrow when they open up again. Hope to do an exchange/return. Gotta think I got a lemon.

I spoke to a rep at Suncoast, (he PM'd after seeing my post on here), and he told me he was able to reproduce the exact problem on one of the two RTS sets he had in stock, the other one bolted together normally. He's overnighting me the roof mounts from the good set. Hopefully that will resolve the issue.

I'm really impressed that Suncoast went out of their way to contact me first, and then took the time to actually troubleshoot the problem from their end.

Update: my problem turns out to be twofold: the base roof mounts were improperly drilled/threaded apparently, so Suncoast sent me a set that were properly drilled/threaded. Unfortunately, I also had at least one, if not more, poorly threaded bolts in the crossbars. Suncoast is now sending me some extras. We'll see if that solves the remaining issue.

I'll probably take one of the crossbar bolts to a local hardware place and see if I can find something that matches but is made out of a better alloy.

Kind of a PITA all the way 'round, but Suncoast has been great in terms of support.

Final update: popped in one of the new bolts Suncoast mailed me, and I had the RTS up and mounted in 10 minutes. Fits perfectly and securely now. Kudos to Suncoast for their fantastic customer support.
