Help! Installed new wheels, now car is stuck!

Hey,

So I purchased a set of Porsche Fuchs from my local dealership and put them on in my garage tonight. When I lowered the car and went to back it out of the garage, it rocked an inch or two then stopped. Same thing forward and backward. It is just stuck.

The car/info:

05 Carrera S Cab 6spd w/PCCBs lowered on Eibach springs 1inch.
I bought a set of widebody fitment Fuchs (305s) to use instead of running spacers that I ran on Classics. I looked close and nothing is rubbing hitting etc. What am I missing? Is my e-brake stuck? Any ideas?

Thanks!

-Marc

Lug bolts from the spacer setup too long for the non-spacer wheels?

Raise the front end and manually spin one of the wheels

Is it possible that your lug bolts are too long and have gone too far through the hub?

That's exactly what's wrong. The longer bolts used with the OEM/spacer setup are too long for the new wheels without spacers. Front's usually aren't the problem but the extra length in the rear cause the interference.

Thank you guys. That is absolutely what the problem is. I will get some new bolts tomorrow.

Thanks again.

Are you sure your new wheels (ie. offset) are compatible w/ PCCBs? The PCCB front calipers are larger then normal Porsche calipers and might be rubbing against the wheel.

Yup, you may also check the front calipers for scratches.

If the offsets were incorrect, touching the calipers would have been noticed when mounting.

It is an issue with the rear lug bolts, not the calipers. I ran a 15mm spacer in the rear with my other wheels and wasn't thinking when I re-used the spacer bolts for a not spacer set up. They go in too far, and are holding up the parking brake. Like I said, it was nothing obvious as far as fitment (still running my 7mm spacer up front) and since the Speedster/Sport Classic uses the same wheels and the PCCB, I knew clearance wasn't an issue.

Either way, picking up new rear bolts this AM and hope to be back on the road with it asap. Looks too cool now not to be out crusin'!

Thanks again for all the help/suggestions.

Standard length lug nuts do seem to be the answer to your problem.

As a side note, the Porsche OEM Fuchs come in either narrow body offsets or wide offsets. Both types have rear rims that are 11.5" wide and take 305 tires as standard regardless of narrow vs wide body offset. I've got the narrow body offset Porsche OEM Sport Classic Fuchs rims on my C2S and they fit perfectly, not sure why you would go with the widebody offset.

The WB offset wheels on a NB car is a wider stance without spacers. The same effect can be had on NB wheels on a NB car with 15mm spacers, pushing the wheel out. It gives the car a more aggressive stance.

FWIW, I'm on WB rears and 7.5mm spacers up front on a NB car for a nice, flush look.
