Coolant Level

With the engine cold on my '05 Carrera S, the coolant level in the reservoir is about 1/2 inch below the minimum mark. I don't think this is critical right now, but I would like to add a little coolant to get it back to at least the minimum mark. My Porsche has been well maintained and I don't suspect there are any coolant leaks. Is this simply a matter of adding a small quantity of recommended Porsche coolant?

Use distilled water. It is way cheaper and if you are just topping off it won't effect the antifreeze properties. Has to be distilled though to ensure no contaminates get in.

+1

look in your owners manual and you'll be astounded as to total coolant capacity (coolant + water at 50/50 mix) of modern Porsches. As such, adding a quart or two of distilled water (yes as stated above must be distilled) will nary change the mix ratio.

Good luck

I went to the dealer for the same issue/question. They said just add distilled water and it should be okay.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to try the distilled water solution first.

fill it and make a note of the level and I d make sure it s stone cold...and dead level. drove me crazy when I first got mine until I realized how these two variables are so sensitive to the level.
