Al & Ed's Autosound/Delray Customs
Wanted to give a shout out to Al & Ed's Autosound a.k.a. Delray Customs of Del Ray California and especially Shane (a.k.a. Saturn).
I was looking to replace the factory PCM in my 2008 Carrera S. I made a couple of trips to some local stores which turned out to be too expensive or beyond their capability to consider. I stumbled upon A & E while doing some research on the factory unit, saw some of their EXCELLENT videos on their YouTube channel, and ended up buying an Alpine INE-W927HD from them. I was a little nervous at first, because this is an expensive unit for an expensive car and is a challenging install due to the fiber optic interface with the Bose Amp/Speakers. Plus, I hadn't done a car radio install since 1980.
Turns out my fears were unfounded. The unit shipped with everything I needed, including custom face plate, interfaces, satellite radio unit, and even a Porsche logo on the start up screen. A & E even has videos to show you how to remove the old unit and mount the antennas. But the thing that made the install go so well was the willingness of Shane to answer any an all questions along the way. I must've called, texted, and emailed him more than 20 times during the prep and install process - even on a Sunday. He was always patient and walked me through any situation that came up; no question was too stupid and no detail was too small, he was always there for me. Bottom line is the end result was beyond my expectation!
Al and Eds has impressed me so much, I will be going back to them to get an LED tail/fog/turn signal/light package for my 997 in the near future.
If any of you are considering an upgrade to your Porsche (or any other make) factory unit, save yourself some time and money by going to Al & Ed's Autosound first, and talk to Shane.

Same goes for any other goodies your are thinking of adding to your Pride of Stuttgart - just check them out. That's all.

Backup camera was included in the Alpine box, but I did not install (On a car barely 15 ft long and just over 4 ft tall? Give me a friggin' break!). Bluetooth works with phone and music (iTunes, Pandora, etc), plus there is a 30 pin connector included for your iPod if that's the way you want to go. Satellite radio is extra and plugs right into the unit, but the buffer in it sucks.
I'm new to the blog, so I don't have enough posts to PM you yet. If you want the price particulars, send me a PM and I will respond. The bottom line is that I saved over $600 doing it myself - no tax b/c I live outside of Kalifornia - and that was with everything including Satellite radio. Payment is via PayPal only.
If you decide this is the route you want to take, send me a PM and I'll share with you my lessons learned that will make your install go a little quicker than mine.
