BMC Air Filter

BMC Air Filter
So it's finally time to re-oil/clean my BMC air filter. Can someone tell me the best/easiest way to do this without screwing up my MAF sensor and getting a check engine light?
Thanks!

Basically you clean just like a K&N and even using K&N oil to re-oil it. That said, use the oil VERY sparingly. After oiling, just as when new, let it sit on newspaper for a week or so to draw excess oil out - changing the paper every few days. Then I'd let it sit a few more days on fresh paper. When no more oil is drawn out by the paper you're good to go to re-install. MAFs aren't cheap (think $400) and you don't want to foul it up (easily done) w/ too much oil.
Good luck

You can usually find the cleaning/re-oiling kits at motorcycle shops.

Definitely go easy on the oil; I have a Fabspeed CAI and over-oiled the filters after a recent cleaning, fouling the MAF and throwing codes 172 / 175 (banks 1 &2 running rich). Replacing MAF ($200 - cleaning with electronic solvent didn't work) and switching to oil-less filter set up ($225). Live and learn

Thanks. No one responded in time so I ordered the BMC kit lol. Anyways how do you apply the oil? I got the spray bottle oil with the kit. Is there a good technique to this?

I do NOT recommend oiling the filter... I used to have K&N on my past C4 and was advised to NOT oil the filter due to CEL's... BMC should have a microfiber "sock" to take the place of the oil.

Follow the instructions and remember to err on the light side - less is better.

Thats what i thought BMC was oil free hence people going from K&n to bmc do to cells.

I looked on the BMC site and they do not sell a "sock". They are all oiled filters and need to be reoiled after a certain period of time.
