Warranty over at midnight tonight!

My CPO Porsche warranty ends at midnight tonight on my 2006 C2S. I have 34,325 miles on it. If I drive it 3,000 miles a year it's a lot. I took the car into my dealership here in Tampa for a general post warranty 125 point inspection. As expected everything checked out okay. My question isn't for those of you who gamble with no warranty, but for those of you who have shelled out thousands for an extended warranty. Has it paid off for you? I have paid for an extended warranty on my daily driver and never used it, sleep good knowing it's there but, poof $3500 gone. Researched Costco warranty $6,600 4yr/48month, Fidelity $9200 36month no limit on miles. Just don't want to get into position where what breaks isn't covered or wasn't maintained correctly to qualify for a claim. I checked my VIN & Engine codes against IMS issues and I'm not in the window of that problem yet sh€£ happens.

I bought one for my C4S 6 Speed with 8K miles on it last November. The car is bullet proof but with my luck, w/o the Fidelity Platinum warranty my car would have self-destructed. So for me it is peace of mind. Also, as there is a good chance I will sell the car before 2019, when the warranty expires, it will be a nice selling feature. The next car will be a 991 C4S PDK in about 2-3 years.

2007 C4S - so far, I replaced the water pump and alternator. <$500.00.

Extended warranty was going to be about $2,000.00/year. I did not buy it. So far I have saved $1,500.00.

I assume you changed the water pump and alternator yourself? I just changed my water pump alone and it was $1200 with labor. The waterpump is only a $300 part and the rest is all labor!

Well you've already made up your mind.....I'm sure you'll be fine.
Gotta say....that if the cost was $6-9,000. I'd rethink it also.
My extended (from dealership) was a fraction of that. Main purpose for me was just the engine......as the wife's C4S cab popped a timing chain 9 months out of warranty. Just a fluke but I said to myself, not again, and extended on the 997II.

Your 2006 M96 has many improvements from earlier years.....sure you will be fine. Don't let it keep you awake .

Jabed....sounds like you took the car to the dealer....these cars aren't like fine jewelry....in that their fragile etc.....I DD my 2006 C4S and I'm coming up on 60K soon....regular oil changes every 5k and so far everything works great....keep reading about water pump, alternator issues that "should be coming" soon but hey.....the car is tons of fun as we all know and I drive it as it should be driven....I'm sure these parts and maintenance items will come soon enough yet why only drive a Porsche less than 3000 miles a year??!! Seems like such a waste of a perfectly good daily thrill...

We'll put RVC.
I do regular service as the book calls for. I also have two other daily drivers in the garage, both not as much fun but less flashy than my C2S. Simply put, I don't drive my P car to my office because my job demands I not be flashy. The perception of my clients seeing that car in my office parking lot could make my job tougher than need be. I trust you understand that logic. I do enjoy it when I drive it, very much.

I fully understand, but isn't the world ironic. You work hard and make money and decide to spend it in a way that is important to you and others view it as a negative!
What is your job if I may ask?

happens all the time regardless of industry (unfortunately).

colleagues you work with get jealous and/or clients start thinking they are paying you too much etc etc etc. sad and silly, but it happens

My car has been out of warranty for couple of years with no major issues. i replaced the alternator to starter harness for $ 90 bucks and the coolant tank cap for $ 15. Everything else has been normal maintainance which I do myself and extended warranties don't cover anyway. I bought the car new so I know how it has been driven and maintained. No sleepness nights.

My retirement job is coaching at a small college. Ever since I got my 997 over a year ago I hear comments like "maybe we are paying you too much" from the administration. I am getting paid for doing something I love and would do for free, so maybe they are paying me too much -

thats one of hte funniest things about success. many times ppl achieve success due to excelling at some thing that you are passionate about and love.... which is why they end up being good at what they do (and make good income).
