Hi All - I've been a lurker for quite sometime on this forum, but I'm ready to start doing mods.

I have about $3,000 available for some aero parts on my 997 C2. I'm ordering the aerokit front bumper from Suncoast shortly. My struggle is what to do on the rear. Which would you choose:

1) OEM aerokit front + replica carbon aero kit wing (Seibon) + my OE rear bumper OR
2) OEM aerokit front + replica FRP aero kit wing + FRP GT3 .1 rear bumper w/ dual cutouts (Extreme Dimensions)

Either #1 or 2 come out to the same total.

I see a lot of people are using FRP / fiberglass parts from Misha, Getty, etc. I am very aware that Extreme Dimensions might not have the same reputation, but has anyone used their stuff on their 997?

Also attached a pic of my car (only did wheels and eibach drop).

Whatever combo you choose, I would only stick to manufacturers that have a solid reputation. Going with a relative unknown will end up costing you more money for prepping the pieces. My personal pick is Precision Porsche. I didn't have to spend any extra money on prep for fitment or paint because they're that good out of the box. Misha, Getty, or gt3tek are also very good.

 

Sorry OP but I don't know the difference.

Just wanted to drop in and say that I think your car looks SICK as is with the wheels and drop! What wheels are those? I love the finish.

whatever you do , just stick with OEM please.

I respectfully disagree with "Replica=Ricer". There are good aftermarket manufacturers that are near OEM quality for much less than OEM price. Just because one has the funds to buy OEM doesn't necessarily mean one has to pony up the money for OEM. I agree with V35, Precision Porsche has great quality with minimal prep for paint and install. I would definitely avoid unknown manufacturers - it's more than just looking like the OEM part, it's getting it to fit without making your body shop go insane with fitment issues.

 

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I also disagree re: the replica = ricer statement. At the same time, AP1to911's comment knocked some sense into me. I have a C2, and no need to front with a poorly executed GT3 "look." I'll go with the aerokit front + wing. Now, to find the wing for a reasonable price...

 

Checked the classifieds, there were a few wings for really good price. As well as rear bumper. Not sure if it's still there.

Saw a OEM Gt3 rear bumper and OEM Decklid today in the classifieds.

I would do the GT3tek front lip and GT3 grill cut out on your OEM bumper, looks just as good as a GT3 bumper at half the price. Do a GT3 997.1 spoiler and a dual cut out GT3 rear bumper replica. You'll save a ton.

 

Thanks guys, I think I'm all set now Ordered the OE front aerokit bumper and the 997.1 GT3 "taco" wing. I'll decide on the rear bumper later (and when budget permits).
