Here's what's needed for the non-turbo 997's

997.2 - Conditions for measuring the oil level
1. Vehicle stationary.
2. It is important to ensure that the vehicle is horizontal for correct oil level measurement to occur.
3. Engine must be at operating temperature (at least 140 °F/60 °C).
4. Engine must be idling.

997.1 - Conditions for measuring the oil level
1. It is important to ensure that the vehicle is horizontal for correct oil level measurement to occur.
2. Engine is off.
3. Ignition on.

. There you go folks! Measurements differ between models. And just for those who might buy old school oil-cooled cars,

1. Engine/oil at normal operating temp
2. WHILE IDLING, measure the oil level

Correct. 5 seconds cold and 5 minutes hot. Not sure how anyone is getting instant readings. Draining the majority of the oil back into the sump takes more than a few minutes. Anyone that changes their own oil can attest to that.

New oil shorter inteval, old oil longer interval...
Probably that "fake" Mobil 1 you added

Brother jh surely has great memory. Forgot about that... Lol but i did not add that to the porsche. I put that in the mb and the dipstick is still as fast in showing its contents! The p car has original mobil 1 from the dealer. We can scratch that one out of the list.
