just realized i should ask...
I recently switched my .1 steering wheel to the .2 one without any extras...just the steering wheel, no mf, no tip, just 2 pieces, wheel and airbag module, and as explained below, the horn doesn't work, it seems to me that the horn/airbag piece sits a little(3-4mm+/-) deep, like the rim is a bit higher than the airbag, like it needs a stronger spring(or 2, as there are 2 supporting the airbag module now) ...but I don't really need the horn...famous last words, right?, and will sort this when I meet up with my Porsche mechanic bud, but for now I am hornless and that's ok...anybody else run into this? I know about the electronic control module and have put off spending the hundreds of euros or whatever as I don't want to...the new module plugged into the 2 plugs that are there, just like before, but the bigger Q is why doesn't the module sit flush with the rim ?

Disengage the airbag again and position it as best you can so that when the airbag slides into the hub, the cable remains inside that groove. In my opinion it's all about "feel". you can jiggle the airbag a bit as you seat it, trying to maintain the position of the cable. After you have done this a few times (sometimes successfully, and sometimes unsuccessfully) you will know what it feels like to have the thing properly seated. When you get it right, the airbag pops into place, and is kind of springy, and seats about flush with the rim. When it's wrong, it is not springy, and sits somewhere else, the result of the cable hindering proper seating because it's not riding inside that groove.
Just play with it a few times, you will get it.
MAKE SURE THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED WHEN PLAYING WITH THE AIRBAG!
Good luck!

by the way, I believe your .1 to .2 should NOT require the module. Your horn does not work because the unseated cable is preventing your horn button from contacting the actuator at the base of the wheel hub. Once the cable is riding in its proper place, the horn button will make contact when you press the horn button (airbag) and spring back into default position when you let go.
One more thing...since the horn button is "wedged" in the hub, it won't be as easy to remove to re-seat it. You will find a hole in the back of the wheel hub that you can access from underneath in the foot well. More than likely, when you use the allen wrench to release the spring inside the hub, you will need to use a screwdriver to manually push/release the horn button forward, from BEHIND the wheel hub. (((DO NOT try to pry the button out from the front of the wheel---don't stick a screwdriver between the horn rim and the wheel hub in front)))This takes some patience, but you can do it. There are DIYs here and on Rennlist for wheel swaps, some of which give you some pictorial perspective.
disconnect that battery first!

i will try this tonight, i have released and reattached the module a few times, but wasn't aware of or trying to get that flat cable seated, just moving it in & out cause, you know, sometimes that helps. so now i will do it 'with purposeful motivation'...if that makes sense, thanks very much...i'll be back
