New tires ??

With only 1K on my stock oem P rear tires I have been thinking of replacing with Conti DWS after reading on this site about them. I can t even get my car out now because of the weather and snow on the ground. Just don t know if I can wait to wear out the other new ones first.
Don t want to spend the money on two sets.
Any bad news on the Conti DWS since I ve researched them a few months ago?

sixgun95 is infamous around these parts
You live in upstate NY! Those tires will make zero difference on a 2S. Get a 4S if you want to drive in light snow or a 4x4. Not to be brash, just realistic.

Snow and ice are rarely a factor in central texas but I had contiDWS' on my wife's SC 430 lexus and loved them. Smooth, quite and great wear. I want to replace the Michelin Pilot sport N2's on her 2008 C4 with the conti's but Discount tire only shows fitment for the CS. They didn't seem to want to order them for the C4. However the owner's manual says 295's rather than 305's on the rear could be used for snow tires. Other than about 1/2 MPH difference on speedometer, I don't see a problem with it.

I do have two AWD vehicles, I just want to be able to get the car out when the roads are semi clear or even clear but very cold. I can be out and get 1/8 inch of snow and the OEM summer tires are useless.

"Performance all season" tires like the Conti DWS will certainly cope with a small amount of snow, but for any cold weather performance you gain, you're losing performance in the dry too.

If your region consistently has the cold/snow to justify special tires for it, you could consider a second set of wheels/tires and swapping as the seasons change, otherwise you need to make a choice and figure out if you're willing to sacrifice summer fun for year round use from one set of tires.
