997 vs Stingray?

Wait... There are some people that think the 997 (or 997S) is anywhere NEAR the base C7?
You would have lost - at any speed. Not only do they weigh relatively little, they have massive torque through its curve (and now they have better traction).
Regarding twisties, I wouldn't put too much stock into that anymore - with the new platform. It will then come down to driver ability.

I think in all aspects its driver ability that will determine the outcome. Plus if you guys are on a public road.... Good decision not too. Racing with someone on public roads is for idiots. On the track, a relatively old sports car in the hards of an expert can beat a new more powerful car in the hands of a novice.

Probably not in a crooked line either.

You are forgetting this is the entry level vette, the new Z is coming and after that an even more powerful car. I have owned 40 Porsche's and a few vettes including a not stock C6 Z06 and I am proud to say the vette is American muscle at its best. To look down on it means you either know little about cars or are a snob. Remember that next time a Ferrari owner tells you "yeah but it's just a Porsche"

Apparently Porsche does know HP is cheap these days.

Lol sorry bro! I like quality . All I'm saying you can make anything fast. I had an old '95 m3 put a turbo on it. Nothing could but me! Even that junk c6 zo6. Lol... 911 turbo, the list go's on and on. But one day I was on the highway and I met my match, a old VW Gti with a very big turbo. You can't get made someone will all ways be faster new, old, junk what ever.

I live near Malibu, California. If there's one thing you learn about cars (and everything else) when you live near Malibu it's that no matter what you have, many people have something newer, more powerful, more expensive, more exotic, etc etc. The lesson one needs to learn quickly if one is not to spend one's life miserably envying others is to be content with what one has. I'm content with my '08 C2S cab and consider myself fortunate to own it; what Corvettes (or Ferraris or Vipers or Leno's latest supercar) can and cannot do is interesting in a vague sort of way but entirely irrelevant to me. It isn't snobbery, it's maturity.

I agree, straight line performance is cheap. You put a procharger on a 5.0 mustang and boost that thing to the moon. I'll say it again, the Vette is a 10 footer compared to a 911. Orange peel paint on wheels, thick glossy clear coat, and a lot of "cool" vents and things going on. I paid $62k for my used 09 a few months ago and literally saw THE first C7 to drop in KC at a car meet that weekend...could have bought brand new for what I paid for mine. As I approached the car I thought "wow...maybe I made a mistake..". Then after walking around it and seeing a few more since then up close. I have ZERO sour grapes. I got the better end of the deal no question. That said, I can't wait to drive one! I hated the C6 so like to see how improved it is. It's all good.
