Before & after dyno on new Fabspeed Air Intake and Fabspeed Perf. Exhaust

HP gain? 17 horsepower gained at the wheels.

Had the Fabspeed Air intake and Fabspeed Performance Exhaust installed on my 997S at Modbargains.

The car was dyno'd before and after (same dyno and shop). The car gained 17hp -- she topped out at 312hp at the wheels.

Car sounds much better -- 0 to 3500rpm it sounds more bassy and burbly. Once you floor it, it screams awesome.

Def recommend the upgrades if you're looking for big sound improvement and a little bump in HP.

I was going to buy that intake over Christmas holiday but everyone kept saying it will suck more dirt into your engine and as mine is a daily driver that I intend to keep for a very long time that scared me away. I love the look though.

@mango All in it was about $2500.

@slammp The filters are very robust and I really don't know how dirt would get through them. The stock filters suck in air through the decklid opening on the left. Plenty of dirt particles around that area as well from all the stuff that collects in the decklid. You also hear everywhere on the forum these upgrades don't add hp. Turns out they do.

I have the single Fabspeed CAI. I think I did gain some HP on the top end only. Never dyno'd the car though. The sound is great above 4,000 RPM I have to say. However, the take off at lower RPM's is not as great. I put back on my stock intake for smog and really noticed the low end pull I had..which I love more than the high end gain, because most of the time your using lower gears and accelerating with a DD car..i.e. freeway on ramps, passing etc.

I'm interested in this dual CAI, however looking at the design, you have to cut that second hole in the deck lid on the right and what about all that hot air getting in from the engine?? This design really isn't allowing cold air, because the air from the engine is what is really getting in there.

I'm looking at the dyno graph and I gained across the whole spectrum. The dyno graph print out has both tests combined, so it's easy to compare. No loss at the low end -- not sure why yours has. Don't forget: I had the intake and a new exhaust installed. The dyno graph accounts for both.

No hole had to be cut. Not sure why everyone keeps going on and on about the hot air? The dyno clearly shows its not an issue in terms of power. My engine temp is exactly the same.

Post the dyno graph!! That would be nice to see.

No second hole cut...then what is the point for having a dual intake when the only air that side is going to take in is the heat from the engine and hot air is not as dense as cold air, ergo not as efficient for HP gains. I'm no motor expert, but I know cold air gets you gains..not hot air..or at least not as hot as the engine will produce.

I would think the turbo model has dual air intakes for a reason..right??

When the car is on the dyno that's one thing...wait till you get the car on the road and the car has to carry the weight of itself. You will see low end loss..especially if you are only running one hole in the deck lid. Less air coming in...less HP....that much I know.

I don't have an exhaust on my car...just a Fister Mod and a Softonic Tune. So maybe..just maybe your exhaust will help in that area I don't know.

I can tell you from my experience that a sealed air box with forced air gives more power low end...the Fabspeed certainly gave me some umph on the top end, and the sound is great...but trying both back to back...I'm going back to stock with a K & N Filter. I really don't think there is enough gain to use it...my opinion and my seat of the pants trail and error.

Post that dyno for us to see!

@ Mr997: Thanks! Do you think the Evomit tune would add more power to my engine? How much was it to have it done, if you don't mind me asking?

Yes you should get it done sometime. It will make all your mods talk to one another. $1000. Yeah it's not cheap . But thats also w/ 4 dyno pulls.
