Help with Shipping Car FLA to MD
Hey Folks - Trying to convince my mother (65yrs) not to drive from SW Fla to Md in April. I think we get a discount from intercity but anyone have any idea on cost? Or who to ask? She has a 2011 E 350 wagon ....
Thanks!
Thanks!

Whayes,
I'm in SWFLA, have family in Western MD who use Amtrak Auto Train. Leaves Sanford in the afternoon and in VA around 9am the next day. I have never used it myself but a buddy put his M/C on it a couple years ago and said it was a very easy trip.

Coupla items....
I paid about $350 to move mine from MN to Philly..... dirt cheap. Besides formal companies that move cars, there is a huge network of independents out there who will move for low prices if you are flexible.
These indys work with car dealers and when they pull into a town, they call the local dealers asking for a load say "going east". Then the bidding begins. If you don't care about an exact delivery day, an open trailer, and can select a delivery location near an interstate exit, then you can get the price way down. I had mine delivered to the parking lot of the King of Prussia mall where a few interstates intersect.
To find one, contact a friendly car dealer and ask them for help.
Oh, and a simple rule of thumb for a nice covered hauler is about $1 per mile although that is on the high side.
Peace
