Hey guys,
I have another baby on the way and I reluctantly think it is time to switch to a sedan. I'd like to know your unprofessional opinions of value on this car. Checking the Porsche website, autotrader, carmax, has proven to be mostly useless as this seems to be the only 997.1 Targa available within 500 miles of Florida. Cant seem to find a vin decoder online either. Here are the details and thanks in advance.

2008 997.1 Targa 4s
Tiptronic
21 k miles
Meteor Grey with black standard leather
Navigation
Multi function steering wheel
Heated seats
AWD
Sport Chrono
Pasm with sport mode
Base
Homelink
HIDs
Upgraded OEM 19"s

I am the 3rd owner. Car has clean carfax. One of the owners was a dealer and drove the car himself for a couple months then resold which I think is ridiculous that he titled it and added another owner. Anyway, car is my daily driver and baby hauler. Car has several flaws that I will point out to be completely fair and keep it honest. There is a small tear in the back of the drivers side seat. There are also several scuffs on the interior including steering wheel. Dash is clean. Center console was painted and is in decent condition but could be re sprayed or wrapped due to some wear. The engine bay is flawless and overall the car runs perfectly and is in decent shape for a 7 year old car but its certainly not pristine by any means. Brakes are at 50 percent. Doesn't burn any oil. No overrevs or abuse...obviously. Tires at 80 percent roughly. Battery tests good at 850cca. Pics are attached. Just curious to hear what you guys think.

you asked...

I've been researching 997.1 and 997.2 prices for a while. I just bought my '07 C4S.

Since you asked for an unprofessional assessment, here you go....

I'm guessing a dealer might offer you 48K and a private sale might get you closer to low 50K's.

The painted armrest and tear in the seat might be an issue.

Otherwise, a sweet car!

Nice car, the tip hurts, I would guess mid/high 40's.

My guess would be in the high 40's.

Things that help the price:
Targa, Color, low miles, 4S, navigation

Things that hurt the price:
# of owners, automatic,

How does the exterior look? Do you have spider webs or other scratches? Is the black trim weathered or still in good condition?

That tear and scuffs can easily be fixed with smart repair to like new condition. Center console is not big deal either...

Ok, I just bought a 997.1 Targa 4S. So I will give my 2 cents worth on the value of the car.

Our cars have a similar build but differ in that mine has more miles, 28k, and also has full leather and is a PTS color (an expensive upgrade). Mine was sold by a dealer with CPO.

You have a safe color in that many buyers like gray or silver, but no warranty and no full leather (options many buyers like).

PP sales prices average lower than dealers,of course. But Targas usually command higher prices because they are much less common.

At a dealer with no CPO, I think your car would be worth about $55k. So, I think low $50s would be a good PP expectation. Try taking it to CarMax for a useful wholesale assessment. They have extensive nationwide data to determine wholesale prices.
