No offense but this is what drives me away from Porsche. Boxter, Cayenne, Cayman and now the Panamera ( the straw that....). When I was a kid the Porsche mark still had the pure "sports car mystique". Today the company is following the path of BMW and Mercedes. Absolutely the right philosophy for the company in terms of profitability. However, I feel that by doing so, nothing sets it apart from the aforementioned high end automotive manufacturers. I really liked my first porsche (996 carrera) and I truly loved my 996 TT. but after I sell the TT I'm all about Ferrari. Now if Ferrari only could start manufacturing reliable daily driveable sports cars .

Ferrari is the next step for those of us who want to stay with the striped down kind of thing the 911 was about back in the day .. they kind of sold out with the 996 ... The 430 Spider is the new real deal .

I have to disagree about the "996 and the sell out statement". True, it might not be the pure sports car that the cs is, but neither are the modena and the 430 coupe. For a "stripped" down rear wheel drive version (a cs equivalent) there's the 911 GT cars (gt2 and 3). On the TT, I actually appreciate the 4 wheel drive, PSM and the other amenities it provides. My beef with Porsche is the fact that it has become such a household name with its presence in every car class/ genre. Even though I have a feeling that the upcoming 997 TT will spank both the F430 and the z06, I'm 90 percent certain that I won't pursuit the car. Porsche just lost me after the Cayman. I want my toycars to have exclusivity. That is something Ferrari still offers.
